How to Tweak Ep. 66's Plot Points While Keeping Them in?

Post by Fionordequester » Mon Nov 21, 2016 5:48 am

This is something I've been thinking about lately. It's one thing to criticize something, but it's another to actually point out exactly how something can be made right. So I was thinking "if I were writing this, and had to keep the Genki Sword, Vegetto defusing, and all that...how would I justify them?". So, what I was thinking...is something like this...
1) Much more visible battle damage on Zamasu from fighting Vegetto.

2) Vegetto defuses because of a variation of that same "slicing through dimensions" trick that Black uses in Episode 64. If Black seriously has THAT much control over the fabric of reality itself, then I can easily see him doing something like that to Vegetto's fusion. So, Vegetto does the Final Flash Kamehameha first, THEN does the Spirit Sword through the chest thing while Zamasu is still lying on his back...and then Zamasu gets desperate. He screams something about how this can't be happening, starts freaking out...then sports a devilish grin as he thinks back on what he accomplished in Episode 64. He then rises up with his hands wrapped in that same dark red aura that his sword was wrapped in during Episode 64, grabs Vegetto by both earrings, and then literally rips the fusion apart! Goku and Vegeta are still alive, obviously; but they are immediately OHKOed. Trunks then flies in swinging, things go on a cliffhanger, which leads us into...

3) The next episode, where Trunks spends most of it getting trashed before finally getting in the shot he needs to destroy Zamasu's body. Goku and Vegeta are yelling at Trunks; "the fusion's over! Zamasu is weakened; PUT HIM DOWN FOR THE COUNT!!" Trunks does his best, but it's no good! Even with a gaping hole in his stomach, and a body that's covered in horrible oozing wounds and scorch marks, Zamasu's still too strong, fast, and skilled! Things look bleak...and then Goku has an idea...

4) The Spirit Bomb..."no, that will never work! It could barely even beat Majin Buu, WITH all the people on Earth! How could...". But then one of the Kaioshin's overhears this idea, and makes a suggestion. "Perhaps Trunks could incorporate the people's power into himself? It wouldn't have the same effect as the Super Saiyan God ritual, but...what other option do they have?" Goku then starts telepathically talking to Trunks; yes, it's Gohan vs. Vegeta all over again! Goku starts telling Trunks how he can gather energy from everyone left. I don't know how Trunks is able to process this information while getting pummeled by Zamasu; maybe Zamasu has started monologuing again, I dunno. Or maybe Gowasu uses the opportunity to distract Zamasu so that Trunks can listen to Goku. But, somehow Trunks pulls it all together, gets his brand spankin' new Spirit Sword, and then...

5) BAM! We go to exactly what happened in the last 5 minutes of Episode 66! Except this time, Trunks isn't beating Zamasu because he's somehow reached his level; no, it's because he keeps HAMMERING that stab wound like there's no tomorrow! Zamasu's wounds are finally catching up to him; he's running out of energy! He can't...he can't...

SWWWWWIIIIICCCCCHHHH!!!

Trunk's sword hits the bulls-eye! Trunks swings up, and up, and up, and...

GRAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!

He got 'em! Zamasu's finally been destroyed! Trunks did it! At long last, he's SAAAAVED the world!

6) ...Only to then have Episode 67 happen. Bummer.
So what do you all think?

While I was perfectly fine with how #66 transpired, this does seem like an interesting rewrite. It's not unoriginal, it's not cliché; it's a nice alternate ending for those who didn't like the last couple episodes.

I would rather just have SSJB Vegito beat the crap out of Merged Zamasu so much that it lowered his power level low enough for Future Trunks to be able to take care of. Even with the Wolverine-level healing factor from the immortality wish, Zamasu's power level would have went down. Imagine the Saiyan invasion fight and Vegeta was so weakened that Yajirobe could have plausibly killed him, when Vegeta was crawling towards his pod. Yajirobe wasn't all that beat up after all. Anyways, even with Deadpool level regeneration, I doubt it would be a threat for someone like Cui to have.. if Cui was going up against Cell, you know what I mean?

So yeah, Vegito defuses after putting all his power for a Final Kamehameha. Base Goku and Vegeta have used up all their Ki that they can't even fly anymore.. Merged Zamasu healed but his Ki has become very low now. A beaten up Future Trunks turns SSJ2, all the while Goku in the background activates the Genki Dama process. Eastern Kaioshin and Gowasu donate all their energy to the Genki Dama too, leaving them exhausted. Future Trunks absorbs said Genki Dama.. creates his Ki sword and focuses all his SSJ2 and newly-absorbed Genki Dama power into that sword...

SLASHHHH! Cuts the Time Ring off the mortal purple-oozing half of Merged Zamasu and then another SLASSSHHHH towards that said mortal half of Zamasu. Merged Zamasu blows up, tries to become the universe, Zeno appears, etc. BUT difference is Future Trunks attacks Merged Zamasu's weak part: the mortal half. All the while the Time Ring being cut off, Zamasu starts to feel the effect of a god killing another god: Beerus killing Zamasu in the main timeline.
