Weakest character that can destroy the Sun?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Weakest character that can destroy the Sun?

Post by TheUltimateNinja » Tue Nov 29, 2016 2:20 am

Who is the weakest character that can destroy the Sun? How about much larger stars like Blue Supergiants or Red Hypergiants?

I think First Form Frieza could probably do it with a Death Ball, and for the absolutely huge stars like VY Canis Majoris you'd need Final Form Frieza's Supernova.

Using real life terms, the Sun is so big that it would take 1.300.000 Earths put together to match it.

In a linear scale, if 18.000 in power level is the minimum required to blow up the Earth, it would take a minimum of 23.400.000.000 in power level to blow up the sun (18.000 x 1.300.000).

So, following that logic, nothing short of the heavy hitters in the Buu saga at minimum.

Power levels don't scale linearly like that. The Master Roshi who can obliterate the moon was certainly lot more powerful than 36 farmers put together. Vegeta was only a marginal percent stronger than Cui yet he vaporized him by waving two fingers. Math is not the right way to determine these questions, because since Toriyama was not thinking about it in those terms, using math for the answers creates clear inconsistencies with the story.

Given first form Freeza obliterated a planet with 10 times the density of earth using one finger, and at 100% can outright create supernovas with his own energy, and his brother straight up stated outright that he himself could destroy the sun pretty casually, yes I can easily see Freeza destroying a mid-sized star.

Piccolo - Moon buster
Vegeta - Planet buster
Freeza - Star buster
Cell - Solar System buster
Majin Boo - Galaxy buster
Beerus - Universe buster

So far the only character in-canon to have actually destroyed a star was Beerus and I think it would be a good idea to keep it that way.
Some fights in DB concluded by launching a villain into the sun with a big Ki beam but there was a lack of noticeable damage to the sun itself whenever that occurred, I'm willing to believe it takes Hakaishin-tier strength to annihilate stars because even SSJ4 Goku was not at risk of blowing up the sun with a 10x kamehameha.

Actually, we have no idea how power levels work. A somewhat linear scaling is as good of a theory as any other because it doesn't have to be perfectly linear, just somewhat linear, and especially since weak character like the farmer don't know how to use Ki and thus we have no idea just how much they would be able to destroy if they kept their power level but were able to use Ki

Here's are some interesting facts, though:

The moon in terms of mass is only 1.2% the mass of Earth. 1.2% of 18.000 is 216. 18.000 is the power level of saiyan arc Vegeta and 216 seems to be a good power level for buff Roshi destroying the moon.

And actually, I made a mistake earlier. In terms of mass, the sun is only 333.000 times the earth. 1.300.000 was regarding size. So, 333.000 x 18.000 = 5.994.000.000.

Super Perfect Cell.

Because I can see him backing up his solar system destroying claim by blowing up the sun with a Kamehameha.

Characters as strong or stronger than SSJG Goku can destroy a star no matter the size

Cell, during his Kamehameha battle, with Gohan is the only character who ever implies that he can destroy a star. I think anyone around the range of the androids could already destroy a small star, however.

Shenron. Via creative application of wishes, i.e. "I wish the nearest black hole was teleported into the sun".

Do you have any else wish?

That fits almost perfectly with where Super Perfect Cell should rank. Possibly a little high for my tastes, but within that ballpark. And he's the guy who said he can destroy the solar system. Interesting.

Turles (Fruit of the Tree of Might Powered Up Form) or Great Ape Vegeta using a Super Galick Gun.

The answer is simple.

Super Perfect Cell

The Earthling Z Fighters would need the power of the Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb together to destroy a star bigger than our Sun.

They would need more than that. They would need to be on some hard drugs just to dream about blowing up the sun while they are tripping.

Is everyone forgetting about the scan of King Cold implying even he and Frieza would have trouble one shotting large planets, lol.
