How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
How strong do you think Yamcha was at his peak? I assume similar to Gohan he lost a lot of power in the 7 year break to the Buu arc and into Super since he doesn't train or fight anymore. But prior to that, how strong was he?
A lot of people seem to agree he reached about Recoome's level or somewhere around there due to the anime filler showing him being able to take him on, so what do you think?

In the anime, he'd be a good fight with Broli lol
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
I pretty much say anyone who trains under King Kai comes back with a power level close to Goku's. After 3 years of training, I would like to think he could clear Zarbon's monster form with some trouble.

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
I'm a nice guy, so I generously interpret Gero's lines about how much the energy of the humans are worth to say that the humans were around base Saiyan tier at the start of the Android arc. Yamcha would be 3rd form Freeza level, roughly.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Somewhere around saiyan saga Vegeta level.
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
I don't believe he stopped training , just stopped participating in tournaments and was back into martial arts as of “Yo! Son goku”
I think the humans are a tiny bit weaker than Base Goku at their max potential but aren't there yet unless the my use the Rosat or Elder Kai thing.
The gap they had at the beginning of the saiyan saga was when they were still one training method (kami) behind goku, so they would wind up somewhere between that PL and Gokus, and stay at the same proportional gap ever since.
Weaker then 100% freeza because base Goku is too but stronger than base freeza fight Goku and ginyu and weaker forms of freeza.
Could use Kaioken to get above that but still below SSJ 1's massive x50 multiplier.

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Yamcha explained that he doesn't want to participate the 25th TB because he doesn't want to be embarrassed again, but that doesn't really mean that he completely stopped training. The JSAT special seems to imply that he is still keeping his training, which the Boo Arc filler seems to support too.
At his peak. I would put Yamcha superior to second form Freeza, probably around 1.4 million.

If you take filler into consideration, around Base Goku post-Cell arc.
Spoiler:
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
In my most recent power level list, I have Yamcha (peak) at Vegeta's (final Zenkai) power level.
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Not counting that one outlier in filler during the Boo Arc, I honestly have problems placing any of the earthlings at thier peak past 2nd Form Freeza. If it wasn't for the Ginyu Force Filler on Kaio's planet I probably wouldn't place any of them past 1st Form Freeza.
How do you get into the Ginyu Force? With a letter of RECOOMEndation!
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
I always figured Krillin, Tenshinhan and Yamcha hit 3rd form Frieza's level at least. Chiaoutzu maybe reaching Ginyu's level at a push(he's always been considerably weaker than the other three).
Might be Earthling bias on my part, but I doubt Gero would bother to drain Yamcha unless he was of significant worth at the time.
The only real thing we know for sure is Android 18 stating she's stronger than all the humans in the RoF arc. Technically as long as they're less powerful than her and 17, you can probably take some liberties.
Filler Yamcha though could probably one shot Perfect Cell since he could fight Olibu and another Otherworld fighter at the same time defeating them in a 2 on 1 fight.
Olibu's considered in the same league as Pikkon, and he beat Perfect Cell in a few punches.

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Its really bizarre that out of all the aliens in space, the Ginyu Force were considered some of the strongest fighters yet they're comparably weak to the rest of the main cast. Given the Androids didn't exist yet, Buu was sealed away, and everyone else are God's or people from other universes, its kind of funny.
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
I don't see Krillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu during the Android Saga being any higher than 500,000 between 1,500,000.

Yamcha i don't see him crossing 3rd form freeza at his prime..
I keep him at second form myself..

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Well out of the main cast that are stronger than the Ginyu force, all of them are either saiyan or half saiyan, and Piccolo fused with two other Namekians. The humans really haven't proved they are stronger than the Ginyu force unless you go by that filler.precita wrote:Its really bizarre that out of all the aliens in space, the Ginyu Force were considered some of the strongest fighters yet they're comparably weak to the rest of the main cast. Saying you're nice is an understatement.RandomGuy96 wrote:I'm a nice guy, so Yamcha would be 3rd form Freeza level, roughly.

3rd form Freeza is where I'd put base Goku and Vegeta before fighting #19, Yamcha would probably be on Nappa's level during that time.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
Piccolo went from being weaker than Nappa to being stronger than Freeza's second form. Yes part of it was the fusion with Nail, but I think Tenshihan and Yamcha improved a lot more than people think.

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
But base Goku was already fighting evenly with Freeza in his true form on Namek (before Freeza powered up further, obviously). Obviously he's stronger than Freeza's third form.sintzu wrote:Saying you're nice is an understatement.RandomGuy96 wrote:I'm a nice guy, so Yamcha would be 3rd form Freeza level, roughly.![]()

Re: How strong was Yamcha at his peak?
That was pretty much all the fussion. Also Piccolo has always been way stronger than the humans. Maybe Tien reached one of Frieza's suppressed forms, but I highly doubt Yamcha did.precita wrote:Piccolo went from being weaker than Nappa to being stronger than Freeza's second form.
