My interpretations of Broly's character

When I rewatched the movie in English sub, this is how I saw Broly though I'm not going to write a very big essay on this.

I don't think Broly simply 'just' hates Goku. When I saw the movie, this is how I understood it. When Broly sees Goku, he recalls a distant memory and thus awakens his Saiyajins instincts in wanting to fight Goku. I don't think he wants to fight Goku in this scene because he hates Goku but he awakens his instincts and wants to fight Goku.

And then Broly becomes mad with power and I guess you can say insane, his father would note he would becomes uncontrollable in the past. There's even one scene where Broly wakes up and starts talking normally to his father as if they have somewhat of a normal relationship.

Than the first movie ends with Broly being beaten by someone who was born with much less power than him and then forth all that's blueprinted, the last thing he sees is Goku. The constant crying is now absorbed in his mind and all he can think of is Goku.

When we see Broly in the second movie, all the words Broly pretty much mostly says Kakkorot which might be because Broly has suffered quite a bit psychology as his speech is now quite limited and you could even say he has schizophrenia, mistakes Goten for Goku.

I don't think he hates Goku because of the crying but because of several other factors. I think his backstory might be better than one might think but the movie doesn't have enough time to flesh it out.

I personally think that Broly is better in movie 10 and a fun entry in movie 11. They didn't take themselves too seriously, and even added Goten's crying as a gag awakening of his power, when it should be obvious that the kid standing in front of him is not Goku. He could have a few better lines, but when dealing with kids whom Broly never met, he had already lost his purpose and was looking to have fun. Those movies were Trunks and Goten's introduction more than anything else, and treating Broly as dumb muscle, whose threat level and past had already been established, without actually following it through, was the best thing that they could do. I think it was the same author who rejected his past by taking a few jabs on the subject with self aware fun. You could probably do the same

At the risk of repeating myself Broly is symbolic of the two saiyan power and brutality. The characte "Broly" is merely a shell for that concept. Think Bruce Banner, who didn't get much character development at all early on. We are tslking about a character stuffed into a 45 min movie so what else do you expect from a Hulk like character. His domination, presence and move set is still unique even in the Dragonball universe

Broly could have been better developed as a character, I believe no one would be against this..
The way it stands as of now, is that movie only tends to imply on the surface that he is after goku because goku cried..
Everything else are theories and was not explained at all..
The way it looks as of now with just the movie's is broly has no character as the writers were too busy making him murder everyone

I like these interpretations because they show that there's a bit of character to Broly and he isn't just some dull moron who only knows one word and has the dumbest motivation ever.
