Arale is one of Toriyama's favorites from Dr. Slump. But Grandpa Gohan might be forgotten by the creator himself.

Gohan already fulfilled his purpose. Goku doesn't really need him anymore, and he already enjoyed being dead. Bringing him back now would be cheap, but if they had shown Goku interacting with him after he died at the Cell Games, I'd be all for it. In fact, if Toreisha (my incredibly clever amalgam of Toriyama/Toei/Shueisha) ever get the balls to go past EoZ, and Goku dies by some turn of events, I'd be happy to see Goku's Grandpa. Unfortunately, they can't just write in a character without a good reason, that's how we ended up with the Pilaf (padding) Gang.
