Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
The Universe is so vast, and yet fighters with powerlevels of below 10000 are sufficient to conquer most planets with little resistance. Guys like the Ginyu Force are universally feared, while Freeza's already the strongest known being bar Buu and Beerus at 530,000.
Krillin and Tien are definitely nothing special compared to the MVPs, but when you think about the above, you'll realize that they themselves are within the top 1 percent of the top 1 percent of powerful fighters in the universe, most likely. A guy with a powerlevel of 1 million could practically solo the universe back in Freeza saga. That's also the reason why the cast of Universe 7 is so Earth-centric. Earth literally hosts 99,9% of the strongest warriors in the entire Universe.
Of course Goten and Trunks would probably have been much better choices, but there's still a lot of room for success for Krillin and Tien in the tournament. They might even get some easy wins if they're lucky.

It's not Tien and Krillin who don't deserve the spots. Considering fusion is banned and Trunks and Goten are children, I guess it's alright for them to step up. It's Roshi who shouldn't be there. There are Namkeians who are much more powerful than him.

Let's actually wait for the reasoning they chose roshi, sure they will give one... Right?

They could try looking for a magetta, botamo or hit of their Universe to replace Roshi though.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

wouldn't super be accused of more rehashing.kinisking wrote:They could try looking for a magetta, botamo or hit of their Universe to replace Roshi though.
I don't understand this fanbase, roshi is not the most powerful, but he is by far one of the most skilled and experienced doesn't that count for something.
Re: Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
Does skill matter when you cant even see your opponent? Also, it makes sense in universe. They know that these races have potential after the U6 tournament so why wouldn't they at least try to find the equivalents in u7?Totamo wrote:wouldn't super be accused of more rehashing.kinisking wrote:They could try looking for a magetta, botamo or hit of their Universe to replace Roshi though.

Supers rehashing complaints are stupid and I've already spoken out against them.

Re: Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
I couldn't agree more. People only want Goten and Trunks since the two haven't done much at all this entire series.
Re: Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
Don't think skill really matters in this series when almost everybody else can kill you with a sneeze.
Re: Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
I get the choices for 17, 18 Piccolo and Buu because they are unarguably among the strongest earth has to offer.
But when it comes to Krillin, Roshi and Tien I think they are way out of their league.
Gohan potentially wise, is one of the strongest participants, but he needs to be encouraged to train.
We haven't seen much of Tien in Super so I can only assume if he kept up with his training.
Krillin became a family man like Gohan but is actually more motivated than him to get back into the saddle again.
Roshi is probably the weakest participant, but he'll make that up with his strategist genius.
I'm quite curious about their upcoming battles
We'll see how things go.

That is true - skill only matters when the opponents are evenly matched in terms of power and speed. Otherwise it just doesn't.Makai wrote:Don't think skill really matters in this series when almost everybody else can kill you with a sneeze.
As for Roshi, everyone seems to be under the impression that he hasn't improved at all ever since the beginning of Z. But you know, he might have. It's possible for him to have gotten stronger.

I agree with all of this. Though i do believe someone with skill can beat power and speed if the gap isnt massive. So id personally put when opponents are near evenly matched.Saturnine wrote:That is true - skill only matters when the opponents are evenly matched in terms of power and speed. Also as I've bern saying they may not have known the stakes. Roshi might have gone because...i mean hell how often do they hold a tournament where you can meet God?

I am taking a wait and see approached. Although I like Roshi, I honestly don't think he should be in the line-up and there better be a good reason why he's there other than fan-service. It worked in Resurrection 'F' since no one took the return of Freeza as seriously as they should. If they know their universe is in danger, there is no such excuse.

I miss seeing Tien truly fight and I hope he'll have time to shine in the saga.
As for Roshi, I personally don't see a problem having him there. Roshi battles are always fun to watch

I agree completely. Might as well add to this by simply quoting myself from another thread.
DBZ Macky wrote:We already have our powerhouses in the form of Goku, Vegeta and possibly Gohan and Piccolo.
It wouldn't hurt to have weaker characters like Kame-sennin, Ten and Kuririn take 3 spots. In fact, they'd actually be WAY more useful than, say, someone like Goten or Trunks.
Imagine #17 fighting Botamo to no avail, and a stalemate occurs. Both of them have nigh infinite stamina and defense, but due to Botamo's power advantage, he somehow pulls the win.
Then Tenshinhan steps up and pushes him out of the ring with a super-powered Kikoho.
Someone else can't defeat Magetta. Well, Kame-sennin makes some cool afterimages to confuse him, electrifies the shit outta him, puts him to sleep and seals him in a rice cooker.
Kuririn can also pull a 'W' with his Kienzan or some other technique.
Powar Levuls aren't everything. Technique also matters.

I would absolutely love it if Krillin went up against, lets say, the strongest warrior in Universe 1 and after all the hyper this guy gets, Krillin just casually cuts him down with a Kienzan, while everyone looks in shock except for Android 17 and Android 18 who cheer him on.
That would be glorious.

Why not? The losing team is going to have their universe destroyed. Might as well let them go all out.Ki Breaker wrote:Soooooooo, killing is allowed?Lord Beerus wrote:I would absolutely love it if Krillin went up against, lets say, the strongest warrior in Universe 1 and after all the hyper this guy gets, Krillin just casually cuts him down with a Kienzan, while everyone looks in shock except for Android 17 and Android 18 who cheer him on.

Re: Funny thing is, Krillin and Tien actually deserve their spots
Even though I still think having Goten and Trunks would've made more sense, I'm still pretty excited for this. None of these characters have been used properly since this series started. It has potential to feel like a DB/Z type arc, with everyone getting a chance to shine hopefully, and won't be like the dreaded ROF arc.
