Toriyama's Vol. 9 "About Me" page

Post by DaemonCorps » Fri Jun 30, 2006 1:14 pm

In DBZ Vol. 9 (tankoubon 25), I noticed that his "about Me" page was the same as volume 8's! FYI, it's the one when Toriyama talks about having a second child.

I have the original version of the Viz release (when their books were jumbo-sized) and am wondering if this was corrected in Viz's re-release of the volume. If it was, can someone put up what was actually written?

The release I have (last edition before the logo change), volume 8 has this.

"On days when I have to ink Dragon Ball, I get up around noon, eat breakfast, and then around 1 p.m. I begin working together with my assistant Matsuyama. I take a break from 7 to 8 p.m. to eat dinner. walk my dog, and feed my bird. Matsuyama goes home around 9 p.m. and I continue to work while watching television. I usually take a bath around 11 p.m. and then after that I relax but I continue to do a bit more work. I will then go to sleep around 4 a.m. And that is what my inking days are like."

-Akira Toriyama, 1987 (Holy crap that's the year I was born! -Duo)

I didn't alter the text in any way from the way it was written (though I apologize if there are any typo's.)

Umm... thanks, but that's volume 8 for DB, not DBZ. Just to clarify things, I'm looking for what was said on DBZ volume 9.

Picky Bastard.

"I like movies. When I was younger, I used to go to the movies about four times a week. When I was in elementary school, I even used to ride my bike to the movie theater in Nagoya, boxed lunch in hand, and spend all day inside the theater. All of these movies that I watched when I was younger are reflected in my manga. When coming up with a story or sequence for a manga, I often think of it as a movie sequence, which helps my pencil to flow with ideas. Ahhh, the good ol' days..."

Thanks :D I was wondering why Toriyama was talking about having a kid (again), but had a picture of him in a theater :?...

And yeah, I am picky :)
