Freeza's Race

Post by Terra-jin » Sat Jul 08, 2006 9:35 am

There are two things that I'd like to know about Freeza's race.

1. Why was Freeza so vastly powerful? It doesn't make sense that normal races are around 100-300 (humans) and elites and the likes have powerlevels like 10,000-30,000 while Freeza is a thousand times more powerful than that. So what makes him that much more powerful than even elite fighters?
I like to think that Freeza's race evolved on a planet with an extreme gravity (several hundreds) that had no significant atmosphere (which is why Freeza can live in space).

2. Why aren't there more members of Freeza's race besides him and his father? Not a single thing is mentioned about this in the series.
My opinion is that Freeza's race were all conquering warlords who tried to subjugate the Universe. Freeza and his clan probably defeated all other warlords of his race to claim supreme dominion.

It's strange that neither of these question are even asked in the series. What do you think?

1. We have seen two beings representing Frezzas race(three if we count the movies). Of course we can assume other aliens of that kind have the same strength, but we have seen how a couple of Sayans were far more stronger than most of their race, actually as a matter of fact it was only two Sayans. That means that the whole super strong Frezza thing might just be a familly thing.

2. Maybe they just didn't show more of them, since we never saw another Dodoria or Zarbon either.

Well, you could get away with saying that Freeza's family are yet another group of survivors of an extinct race, which was incredibly strong, but wiped out for some reason.

And now for an out-of-universe explanation: The Freeza Saga was one of the Sagas in which Toriyama was planning to end the manga, so you could say that he wanted to leave out those mysteries. He never explains it further on, since well... he was focusing too much on the bad guys he was working on at that point (Though you could say that some Freeza background could have been given when Imperfect Cell was explaining things to Piccolo.).

I think Freeza's race can be compared to the Saiyan race. Freeza was royalty, a ruler, and if you don't agree remember that his father is KING Cold. Chances are that his race is spread out conquering planets [ much like Coola had his own sector to look after].

That's my two cents on the issue anyway. Good topic!

I've always thought that Freeza was a mutant of his race, just born amazingly powerful like Brolly and the Ginyu Force. As for why the rest of his race was never shown, i would say that Freeza killed them because of his fear that they might surpass him in power like the Saiyans. Now i'm just guessing here but then again it's possible that my theory might be true because we don't know anything for a fact.
It is impossible to improve upon perfection.

Yeah... I have some fanfic ideas rolling around upstairs in my meat computer. One of them explains that Frieza's race was mostly wiped out in a series of civil wars where the Cold regime (being the family legacy of King Cold) won out. I would think there where other "changelings" like Frieza, Cooler and King Cold but they are either extinct or in the farthest reaches of the galaxy. We don't see anymore alien invasions of Earth after Trunks arrived from the future so it's safe to say Frieza's race is either dead or unaffiliated with his family.

P.S. I'm glad Toryiama decided to continue the manga... 8)

I've tossed out a few ideas in various fics. One had Freeza and his family as just freaks amongst their people with giagantic powers by comparison (kinda like Tien have a PL over 1500 in the Saiya-jin saga with the average Human at only 5) so they were just never really heard of, what with average powers of around 500 or so... ya...

<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

According to Toriyama, there are very few of them in existence, as they were some kind of genetic mutation (if I remember correctly. It's from Shonen Jump issue 1).
