Saffron Henderson as Shenhua in Black Lagoon. One of the most hilarious performances in anime.

She has played Lucrezia Noin in Gundam Wing, Light Yagami's mother in Death Note, Kagome's little brother and fellow school colleague in Inuyasha, the Black Widow and Ma Gnucci in The Punisher video game. Pretty good actress and very gorgeous, too.Cure Dragon 255 wrote:I'm genuinely delighted to hear that. I havent heard much from her!

Brina Palencia's Holo. Damn, I love that voice.
Vic's Edward Elric has already been mentioned. Tatum's Lawrence is also fantastic.
And Ed Blaylock played "Eskimo" (ep284) and "Guy" (ep287), so I'm totally throwing his King Bradley in here.

Anybody who went on to do FMA was fantastic in that show. Hands down my favorite English dub of any anime.
Colleen Clinkenbeard, Eric Vale, Chris Sabat, and many others are also great in One Piece.
Eric Vale did a good job as Casshern in Casshern Sins.
Sonny Strait, Kent Williams, and Chris Sabat are all great as their respective masters in Kenichi, ESPECIALLY Sonny Strait's Appachai. On the Japanese side, I love Ryo Horikawa as Hermit.
Whill the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX dub isn't really that good, Sean Schemmel's Dr. Crowler was definitely the highlight in my eyes.
Kyle Hebert is good in pretty much anything he does. I really liked him as that one guy in Blue Exorcist (I forget his name, forgive me).
Going beyond anime, Scott McNeil's Wolverine is great in X-Men Evolution. Steve Blum's, too. I also love Sean Schemmel's Black Doom in Shadow the Hedgehog.

Edward Elric & Inuyasha's voice actors did a commendable job of injecting as much life & soul into their respective characters.
1 thing which always annoyed me with Eng Dub voice actors is (besides their lack of knowledge or backstory of characters they portray) is their inability to get under the skin of their characters
Suprisingly, both these 2 characters were done well

Re: Great Performances from English Dragon Ball dub actors on other anime
In general, dubs tend to have much more solid casting & performances throughout, that one doesnt have to cherrypick for decent castings, like we have had to do with DB. Shame DB's dub gets all the love.
Anyway, If it's just FUNi VAs...I have problems w/FUNi's general execution of dubs, but...
FMA's is a bit overrated due to heavy Western setting, but the 2010 dub is pretty good. 03's fine, nothing special. Steins Gate - Sabat, Leigh, & Tatum. Ashly Burch I dont think has been in DB but needs a mention. One Piece! The whole execution of Toei's other major show's dub is drastically above DB's, & head&shoulders above most FUNi dubs. This dub I love, just wish it had more LA VAs, like the studio that Mercer discussed. Performances: all Straw Hats aside from maybe Brina's Chopper. I also saw the Prison School dub & it was fun. Eric Vale & Sonny Strait were in it. Guilty pleasure.
...Ocean was contracted by more actual Japanese companies (Viz, Bandai, & Geneon) & I tend to have more respect for those dubs, they tend to have more creator involvement, plus Ocean dubs had some of the best talent possible in English-language media. They dont get used anymore because budgets have decreased drasticly due to lack of need for TV & dubs today (same reason no Blum & Crispin in new dubs), but they've definitely had a good run. All fantastic actors, really only second to the likes of Welker, Burton, Tress MacNeille, LaMarche, etc. Easily the most competitive talent pool in dubs. Favorites are Death Note (mm!), Black Lagoon, Nana, & Gundam (esp. love Brian's Char Aznable & Brad's Amuro)
LA (Harmony Gold, Final Bout, Asia Super dub - so weird they only get obscure jobs for such a massive series)
Doug Erholtz as Gin in Bleach, & maybe Squall in FF. Wendee Lee everywhere, mainly Haruhi. Code Geass, Fate Zero, Tiger & Bunny, Planetes, Big O, Naruto, Bleach, & Samurai Champlooms dub. Way too many individual performances.

You really want those people in dubs, do you, so that English dubs can be taken seriously although they're taken seriously already? And by, the way, it wasn't Drummond who played Char, it was Michael Kopsa.huzaifa_ahmed wrote:In general, dubs tend to have much more solid casting & performances throughout, that one doesnt have to cherrypick for decent castings, like we have had to do with DB. I didnt say your first statement. Just meant to say that the best Vancouver VAs are pretty comparable to the general LA cartoon talent. I used Welker etc, to signal "the best handful of VAs, period". As for the second, thanks. Drummond reminds me a lot of Blum, Silverstein, Ferguson, & O'Brien, so I forgot they used Kopsa. I saw the OVAs (whose dub isnt good) over the series, so I only sampled the series & its dub.8000 Saiyan wrote:You really want those people in dubs, do you, so that English dubs can be taken seriously although they're taken seriously already? Almost everyone (Chuck Huber, Laura Bailey, Cynthia Cranz, to name a few) were spectacular in Crayon Shin-chan. The English dub of this show is one of many things on my infamous list of "Great Things Completely Forgotten Due To A Lack Of New Material." And yes, I really did make this list.

I haven't watched many anime besides Dragon Ball. But Chris Sabat, Sonny Strait, Eric Vale, and Colleen Clinkenbeard are all funking incredible in One Piece. I can say that much.

Chris Sabat, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Eric Vale, and Sonny Strait in their respective main roles in One Piece. I particularly enjoy strait as Usopp, you can tell he really has fun with the role and makes it his own.

Not anime, but with mentions of David Kaye, he did voice a memorable villain in the 90s which he also did different versions of in three anime series of the early 2000s.
Also Monica Rial is great in her many roles with great range. From her roles as Jo (Burst Angel) to May Chang (FMA: Brotherhood) she's great. Even as characters like Anna who start off sweet, then go off the deep end:
