Did Super ruin some characters for you?

Since everyone's talking about how Super fucked Goku up, let's talk about characters that we feel were ruined...or almost ruined. Even if you still like the characters, did the Super some of the qualities?

For me, it ruined Goku, and almost ruined Future Trunks. I don't need to explain much about Goku, other than him acting 100% retarded and being careless all the way without any reconsideration. For Future Trunks, other than the cursed hair color(DAMN YOU TOEI!) I feel like he hasn't matured mentally. He's in his 30s and he's still screamin' and cryin'. It worked in the Android/Cell saga, but he should've left some of that behind him. Have his personality be more like the one when he destroyed the Androids and Cell. The only time I excused the crying was when Bulma died, but other than that, I felt that some of the writing regarding his character in Super were rehashed. In the end, I'm 50/50 on Future Trunks in Super.

And I was gonna say Super ruined Gohan too, but honestly, he's a lost cause now. But I'll always consider him one of the best characters in Z, that's for sure.

There are adults in real life that cries because of their severe depression and stress. Trunks honestly is no different since he grew up in an apocalyptic world and that apocalypse happens again in later on in his life. That doesn't make them "not mature". Plus, you are just exaggerating the amount of times he cried in the arc.

You're right about that. But I think it would've been better if the PTSD stuff was started in the Cell Saga, that way it would've made more sense and some folks would understand why he acted that way, because his attitude at the end of the Cell saga where he destroyed the androids, that to me showed that he faced his fears, and it made me to believe that his personality will be like that from now on.

You're right about that. Trunks faces his fears all the time. Otherwise way more people would be dead. His problem wasn't with the androids anymore. The problem was now the guy throwing giant balls of death while wearing his friends face and by the looks of things doing way more damage then the androids ever did.

So it's not super hard to believe that he was a tad bit traumatized from the more recent events and the fact that he has to face these constant problems by himself, most of which he is too powerless to deal with at the time. Especially when it involved the death of his mother.

Overcome fears or not, that's going to mess with a guy.

Fact: Goku wasn't "ruined", he's just somehow different from the last time you see it.

The "ruined" characters (or better... wasted?) are those that now we are sure they will do nothing and doesn't have more sense to exist, 'cause the plot created that limit.
Baba (you got Zuno now for everything you want to know, and too much balls to resurrect whatever).
Lunch (Lunch get angry when Beerus is near, goodbye Earth).
Gotenks (totally wasted since SSBlue)
Yamcha and Chiaotzu for uncanny power level gap.
Future Trunks 'cause now there's NO ABSOLUTE reason for him to travel in time again.

The other ones could have been portrayed a little differently, but "ruined" is too subjective to be true XD. Future trunks was less savage, for example. But indeed a nice character, very polite and finally a little emotive.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "ruin", but man do I miss Vegeta. I miss hotblooded rival Vegeta so damn much. He was ridiculous, but he was so much fun to watch in action. I don't like where they've been steering him in Super as of late. VegeBul is so boring to me. "Nervous anxiety around Beerus" Vegeta is tiring by this point. Vegeta isn't even my favorite, but watching him fade into the background breaks my heart in a way where I get where Gohan and Piccolo fans are coming from in not wanting a character they like to be sidelined in that way.

It's ruined my two favorite characters: Future Trunks and Gohan. Future Trunks became so much of a Gary sue they it was hard to take him seriously, and I've explained the reason for Gohan multiple times.

Honestly, it ruined Vegeta for me. Not because of any particular way he's been characterised, but by the fact that his prominence in the story is making me realise they're never going to let his character move on if there's even the slight chance that would mean he wouldn't be as important to the story anymore. He's just going to be Goku's rival until the end of time.

No it hasn't made me hate anyone. Though Vegeta is a character I don't like as much anymore. He was never much of a rival to Goku, but it was his arrogance and how competitive that I found fun. I love his development, and greatly respect his character, but the direction in where his development is taking his character just makes him very boring to me. I'm never really get that same excitement to see Vegeta like I did back in the Boo Saga or the Saiyan-Namek Sagas.

Goten wasn't ruined but they ruined his design, by getting' rid of his traddinital sleeves. Him without them looks ugly.

Future Trunks, appearance wise. Absolutely hate his Super look, It's an insult to how badass he use to be.

Yeah, I'm kinda turning over to this side right now. Vegeta's antics and his overall character in Super had gotten a bit stale for me. The dude used to have a fire in him, a drive, a work ethic that he would use to push him to the top.

Now, I ain't saying we've never seen him train in Super or anything like that. I'm just saying that when they made him do those aforementioned things, they were done so (for a like of a better term) coolly and which such brutality that made it so much worth watching.

I think we've gotten little shreds of that in Super, but nothing on the caliber of what we've gotten in the past. I think everything seems too tame and mild. In regards to Vegeta specifically. Anyways, just my two cents.

I dislike how Goku has acted lately, but it isnt enough to say he's ruined.

I'm loving Vegeta more in Super than in Z at this point too.

Future Trunks bugs me a little with the asspulls, but like with Goku, nothing too offensive to say the character is ruined.

My opinion of Gohan hasn't changed since Z.

But holy shit, can Goten and Trunks grow up already!?

Ruined I would say Chichi, basically regressing to her Pre Buu saga self.


As for Vegeta goes, having him as a protagonist in Super kinda exposed him on why Tori never had him as Main Protagonist, he deserves to be part of the Main Cast but he doesnt work as a protagonist, he doesnt have that "It factor"(like Gohan as well).

The Natural progression for Vegeta would be for him to become Cabbas master.

Chi Chi - Softened after Goku's death in Cell Saga, back to being soccer mom in Super again, because it was so funny before...not
Freeza - One of DB icons reduced to joke, and this whole "I could train for literally under 6 months, and fight equally against SSJ Blue" made him very stupid too
Mr. Buu - He became unlikeable jerk, who keppsmaking trouble for Mr.Satan, still very dangerous
