Speed of "Instant Transmission" (i.e., teleportation)?

I'm re-watching the DBZ Franchise and just made it to Trunks Saga. Goku Claims to Trunks that Instant transmission speed is the speed of light. It doesn't make any sense. I read a discussion where someone made the maths and calculated that the Saiyan Spaceship is traveling many times above the speed of light, according to the information Bulma provided in the anime about the distance from Earth to Namek.
So that would mean that Goku couldn't reach Earth in time to defeat Frieza since the Spaceship is faster.

Which information is true, is the Dub version wrong in the anime and there is no speed, since it's Instant, or the made calculations are wrong ?

It's a dub only line. The instant transmission is instant, that's all there is to it.

It's only the original Funimation dub that gave it the "speed of light" velocity. In the original manga and anime, it's literally instant, hence Goku's ability to reach New Namek instantaneously, when even traveling at light speed would take someone 5 hrs to reach Pluto from Earth, much less a planet outside the solar system (closest star to Earth apart from the Sun is over 4 light years away)

Generally speaking, the original Funimation dub, from its original "Ocean" area to it wrapped up in the Buu arc, is one of the more inaccurate versions of the anime, given the significant amounts of altered and added (yes, added) dialogue that wasn't in the original anime, so a lot of the "facts" taken from the Funimation dub should be taken with a grain of salt.

look at it like this. whis can travel to earth from beerus' planet in about 25-30 minutes. now there's nothing stating the distance from there to earth to compare it to the distance from old namek to earth, but i would think it's safe to say it's a great deal further.

goku's instant transmission got him from beerus' planet to earth in what seemed like seconds.

he can teleport faster than the attendant of the god of destruction can move from planet to planet.

as above posters stated: instant transmission is instant.

ignore the original dub, for it will lead you astray. it will also make you compare goku to superman even more. PLEASE DON'T DO THAT LAST ONE!

The technique's name in Japanese in Shunkan-idō (瞬間移動); that's literally "instantaneous movement" and is commonly just translated as "teleportation".

Everyone else's explanations above hold true; just wanted to add that in.
