Considering an unlikely but intriguing conclusion to this arc...

Post by GreatWyrmGold » Sun Apr 16, 2017 7:41 am

I had an odd thought last night about how this arc could end. I doubt it would happen, and it doesn't fit with the tone of the rest of the series; however, I still find it interesting to think about, so I decided to share it in the hope that some other people would also find it interesting.

The Tournament of Power is nearly over. Only a handful of the strongest fighters from Universes 7 and 11 remain. Goku and Jiren struggle against one another, and...Goku is knocked out. Vegeta struggles to repulse both Jiren and whoever he had been fighting, but ultimately fails. The rest of Universe 7 is eliminated in short order. The Tournament is over. U7 loses.
However, the Zenos liked the tournament a lot, and while they still want to downsize the multiverse, they don't want to destroy half of its strongest fighters. They drop the fighters from the losing universes into one of the remaining five, perhaps mentioning some future tournament, before going off and doing their thing.

Needless to say, the survivors are devastated; they've lost all but perhaps one or two of their loved ones. Goku's not nearly so disheartened, though, and convinces his friends to help him find the Super Dragon Balls so they can remake Earth in one of the surviving universes. So they go on a grand new adventure!
But they aren't the only ones who want the Super Dragon Balls. Other refugees from the destroyed universes want to gather the Super Dragon Balls to resurrect their own worlds. There are a group of gods who, fearful that bringing back a planet from the destroyed universes would piss off the Zenos, try to stop them. All of this kerfuffle about mystic orbs brings powerful figures out of the woodwork of the remaining universes to claim their power for their own, often sinister, desires. And, of course, there are Other obstacles who don't care about the Dragon Balls, but do care about this group with Multiverse's Most Wanted #1 (i.e, Goku) at the helm.

There would be some excellent opportunities for character development spurred by the loss of everything the characters held dear. (I'd be disappointed by my own imagination if the theoretical arc I imagined didn't touch on that.) It would be a nice change for the Z-warriors to actually fail at saving the world for once, and having to wrap their heads around the consequences. The quest might also let us learn the answers to questions like "Why did the Zenos think there were too many universes?", "Where are all the angels from destroyed universes hanging out?", and "Why is Goku so blasé about multiversal destruction?" Those could potentially be subarcs of their own.

What do you guys think? Could this make for an interesting arc? Do you see other possibilities? How impossible is it that this would actually happen?
I have constructed a power level list for Dragon Ball Super. Feedback and constructive criticism are appreciated!

This arc could end in many, many ways so no one can say your idea is impossible, though they have already stated the winner will get a wish from the Super DBs and if U6 and U7 go boom I wonder where the Super DBs will go. Probably they will be scattered across the remaining universes.

After jiren and Goku double k.o themselves master Roshi will climb from underneath the rubble where he was either knocked out or hiding, only to win it for universe 7. He will get a wish and ask for something retarded.

That's how it will end.

He will finally wish some hot girls all for himself. I admit it I would like a scenario like that!

I wouldn't mind if it ends like this, but only if the tournament isn't the only thing in the arc, maybe a villain or a new threat appears when the tournament finishes.

So in this scenario are Yamcha, Goten, Trunks, Chiaoutzu, Marron, Chi-Chi, Bulma, Jaco, Mr. Satan, Videl, Pan, Bulla, Dende, Mr. Popo, Oolong, Puar, Yajirobe, Korin, Ox King, Launch, Dr. Briefs, Mrs. Briefs, Uub, 17's family, Baba, King Kai, Yemma, Moori and the other lesser important Dragonball characters all dead for good?

I mean how pissed are the others going to be at Goku when they realise he's accidentally caused the chain of events leading to the deaths of their loved ones? If they have to journey through the other universes to find a way to revive the above I'll admit it could be very interesting but I really can't see Super killing off a character like Bulma for long periods of time. Until this recent arc she's basically been the tritagonist of U7 outside Goku and Vegeta.

1. Goku (Universe 7) has eliminated 6 competitor & Vegeta (Universe 7) has eliminated 6 competitors
