DBZ Movie 2 and 3 Redub News And Dates!

Post by Tanooki Kuribo » Sat Aug 05, 2006 9:22 pm

Well, I just got back from Otakon where FUNimation has yet again totally ignored DBZ in there panel. Lance was nice enough to wait outside to answer questions that werent answerd in there panel time.

I asked when would we see the redubs for DBZ movies 2 and 3 and he said somtime in the fall of this year... Yea that was pretty much it but it was nice enought of him to answer questions after the panel...

BUT THEN! Whats this I find FUNimation is selling movie 13 at there booth? Awsome! So I bought it (more on that in another post comming later). I was looking through there little insert with all there upcomming releases and movies 2 and 3 were actually listed! So when are they comming out? Well, its being released as a box set along with movie 1 on November 14 with a SRP of 29.99 (So like 20 - 25$ everywhere else)

This kind of makes sence being they droppd the UUC name. They can now re-release movie 1 with a different cover (or just delete UUC from the DBZ logo) and everything will be right in the world. :D

Hmm... well, I already have Movie 1 so this is a kick in the pants, but I am happy to finally be getting 2 and 3, and even together. So I guess it's okay.

I'll be sure to get it.

Aw, they're in a boxset? *Looks over at olde Ocean dub box set of movies 1 through 3* Curses. >_O The only one I was interested in was Movie 3 because I wanted to see how Tur1es got redubbed. I hope they release them individually as well.

You wouldnt have very many options here, because if FUNimation were to release individual movies like that, they'd have to stay below the overall boxset cost, and I doubt they'd want to put out a $10 disc when most people would have bought this 3-disc boxset.

Best you just bite the bullet and buy all of them I guess :)

*sigh* Oh well, guess I have no choice. I've already got Movie 1, like Muten Roshi does. But it'll be worth getting the other two movies; I haven't seen Movie 2 in a long time, and I've got the Ocean dub of Movie 3 on VHS. I also can't wait to see how they re-dub Tullece/Turles/whatever his name is.

Man, fuck this, I'm calling him Turtles from now on, or for as long as I care.

This is certainly good news for me, as I sold my redub Movie 1 DVD months ago. Now I can get all three in a decent priced box-set no more than 6 bucks higher than the original DB set released last year, mainly considering I plan to purchase it at Best Buy. It ain't really a kick in the pants of people that bought the redub Movie 1 disc, I mean you're still getting movies 2 and 3 for a very nice price along with a new copy of movie 1, as well as a not-too-shabby box. Hell, maybe FUNi will go the extra length and repair the sound effect issue at the end of their Dead Zone's Japanese version (I can only hope).

It just hit me that with this release FUNimation has finished dubbing the whole Dragonball series with there voice actors. Amazing. No seriously Iam not being sarcastic thats quite the accomplishment.

Think about it, no more wondering when FUNimation is going to dub movie ___ or the ____ saga or redub the ____ season. Its over!

All we have to look foward to now are re-releases.

You forget ... a little ol' original DB movie known as Curse of the Blood Rubies. Even the R4 release of the "Saga of Goku" didn't get a redub of it (much less the Japanese version). The ONE thing FUNi has left. Shall we all be haters of Lion's Gate Films for holding indefinite license? >.>

Well, there's still the dubbings of videogames so we can still ask things like "When is Funimation going to dub DBZ Legends?".

Yes, I realize that this will probably never happen.

Wow, actual news on movie 2 and 3! I thought I'd never see the day. :P

Well, I like the idea of this box set better than when they released DB movies 2-4. At least this time around, you're only going to get one repeat at most.

Can I just say, how this post suddenly made me think how much I would love a DS port of Legends. Reworked slightly, otherwise, awesome.

Indefinite License? I didn't know those were even possible, without owning the actual characters.
... Maybe later.

Looks like I'll just give my UUC Movie 1 to a friend or family member, and get this sweet ass trilogy boxset!! I like how it's really inexpensive, just like the DB Movies 2-4 boxset.

Maybe they'll be smart and use the original cover art. Hell, since they've dropped the UUC label, it'd be awesome if we got actual movie covers like their DVDs of Movies 9-13.

I also look forward to hearing how the redubs will be done (call it masochism if you will, I do :D ) and I look forward to hearing Tullece's new voice. (I hope Mr. Schemmel can pull off an evil Goku)...
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Don't forget that movie 4 had a close to the original cover. I think the only difference was they used a redrawn Goku in place of the original.

The movie 4 cover seems to be a complete redrawing of the original. Same idea, but some stuff is left out and there's some slight differences.

I bought the Ultimate Uncut version of Dead Zone and ended up trading it in. It seemed pretty pointless to me since I don't have a problem with the first voice cast. I consider the episodes worth getting because so much content is left out of the Saiyan saga. But the first release is uncut as it is and not much, if any, is added. If this set impresses me enough, though, and the covers look good I might end up getting it.

Movie 3 was one of my favorite movies, and this excites me to hear it's finally being rereleased. I own the Pioneer version on a cassette, and much to my dismay my DVD player seriously damaged my Pioneer DVD. So if the new dub is bad, at least I can have the Japanese version again. :D

Well you aren't totally out of options. Most stores can't do buy-back of boxsets and have to take them (and re-sell them) individually. So you could peruse local used bins.

Also on Ebay I'm sure somone will buy the set and try to make a pretty penny selling all 3 for $15-20 or something like that
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

:groan:, like most of you guys, I bought the re-release of movie 1 :x. Eh, I guess I no longer have an excuse now; I've gotta learn how to sell stuff on eBay :?.

Though I should also say that I remember seeing individual listings for DVDs of DB movies 2-4 on amazon. But it seemed pretty shady, since there wasn't a picture to go with any of them (except movie 4).
