Grade 3 Trunks Vs. Broly?

Not sure if I even need to lay out the details here, but basically, Grade 3 Trunks DID manage to overpower Perfect Cell, and in Movie 8, Broly is also estimated to be stronger than Perfect Cell.

So my question is twofold really.

1: COULD Trunks have beaten or at least been on par with Broly had he used Grade 3?

2: WHY did trunks refrain from using Grade 3?

Now, I know what you may be thinking. "If he couldn't catch Cell, he certainly can't catch Broly!" and you may be right, but hear me out. Broly has good speed in his LSS form, and he has been shown to dodge TWO fighters' rapid attacks simultaneously, but other than that, his speed in the form is never truly put to the test. There's another factor as well. Broly may just want to fight Trunks in that form. Especially considering how much Trunks Resembles him.

So yeah. I'm not opposed to the speed argument, but I would at least like to see some real thought put behind it instead of just throwing it around as a universal answer.

He would get his ass beat faster. If a FPSSJ Goku + Piccolo tag team can't touch Broly, how could Grade 3 Trunks? Even if he did land shots on Broly, they would very likely do no damage. FPSSJ Goku landed a point blank kamehameha on him, and it did absolutely nothing.

Anyways, Grade 3 Trunks was stronger than a suppressed Perfect Cell. If Cell had used his full power, or at least the power he used to fight Goku, he would've overpowered Trunks within a second. Assuming Broli is about as strong Perfect Cell (and to my knowledge, the two are ever directly compared), then Grade 3 Trunks wouldn't be anywhere near strong enough to contend with him even if his speed wasn't garbage. And if I'm not mistaken, Broli's Legendary Super Saiyan^TM form is described as giving him tremendous strength and speed, and we clearly see him outspeeding Goku and the rest of the gang, so despite the visual similarities, it doesn't seem to share the same drawbacks as Grade 3. Perhaps it's because Broli actually gets about a foot taller when he transforms?

broly wins easily, he's stronger end obviously faster than grade 3 trunks. the power up granted by grade 3 trasfomation is only a bit higher than the one of normal ssj form, let's say a x60 base intead the normal ssj's x50. considering that lssj broly was easily dominating grade 4 goku, ssj vegeta, ssj trunks and piccolo, that means that he's at least 2,5 times stronger than grade 4 Goku, so, if base broly = base Goku, the lssj multiplier is x175 at least
