So what happened with Goku’s family?

A couple of days ago I was watching the GT special and a peculiar thought came to me. What actually happened to Goku’s family? We see that Goku Jr. lives with Pan alone in the city but what happened to his parents? I mean they must have existed to give birth to him, are they dear and if they are what is the reason for that or is it just another one of those GT plot wholes?

I'm guessing they died, I mean, he does appear to have lived with Pan for a long time. And since he has so much anxiety about his grandma dying I'm guessing she's the only living relative he knows. It's not like every confusing element of GT is a plothole just because they don't straight out explain it.

I also think they were trying to reproduce how Son Goku only lived with his "Grandpa" but had no parents w/o explanation.

I'd really like to know myself; from the look of it, Goku Jr. has no other living relatives, and you don't see any pictures of his parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc... It almost makes me wonder if there was some horrific battle that almost completly wiped out the Son family when Goku Jr. was still just an enfant.

Or a fanfiction. In fact, a couple years ago. (Oh my god, I need to start writing fanfiction again...) It was never completed, because then I saw the end of GT, and realized something. "Oh, Vegeta Jr.'s mom is the part Saiyajin one... F---." Although, honestly, looking back at it I could have made it an AU thing. It was an AU fic anyway. The fic just had to many mistakes, since I didn't know that much about GT at the time.

I'm sorry, I'm kinda drugged-up right now (Vicodin Pain killers...) but when was it said that Vegeta Jr.'s mother was the one with SSJ blood? I'm not accusing you or anything. I'm just a little confused.

Basicly by appearances. She's a near dead ringer for Bulma, thus showing that she's the one descended from Bulma, not her husband. So ya, that would make her a descendant of Vegeta and, in turn, part Saiya-jin.

Duh Panda! Lord... I feel dumb.

I would think that the Bulma look-alike is a descendant from Bra. it just seems highly unlikely that Trunks' kids (and that would be his kid couldn't it?) would look that much like his mother. With Bra it isn't a big deal because her and Bulma look alike anyway.

Well, in genetics (as much as I know, a 15 year old from Texas :-/) certain recessive genes have been known to skip generations. Like eye color, I've seen kids whose parents both have brown eyes but they have blue eyes. When you look at their family history sometimes a grandparent had that eye color.

Also, Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. have certain things that are different from their ancestors (Goku and Vegeta). Goku jr. has larger pupils than just about any DBZ character I've seen yet. OPlus the bottom line on his eye is hardly there while it is very defined in Goku and Gohan's eyes. (I'm not saying anything about Pan because girls eyes are kinda weird in DB?Z?GT)

Vegeta Jr. doesn't have the bangs that Vegeta Sr. had when he was a child. His eyes are also ever-slightly more rounded (This could be an animation thing but it needs to be noted anyway...)

Goku Jr. and Goku are obviously different people (which is probably due more to environmental facotrs than genetics) but since we no nothing about Vegeta Jr.'s personality I'll leave that portion up to someone else.

That really would be a great plot. I never really thought of that. Can you say movie 14?
