A lie?
"Jet Li & Jackie Chan in DBZ Movie!? posted by Sharky on 25 Aug 2006 07:37
Recently there's been a rumor going around about a new "Journey to the West" movie (this is the story that inspired the Dragonball series). However, Yahoo News mentions that while Spielberg and Yimour are close, there are no plans for a Journey To The West Feature from them. The rumour was taken out of context. But according to Jet Li's official website, the Aug. 18 issue of Entertainment Weekly had a quote from Li stating that his next project was with Jackie Chan. It should also be noted that a few years ago on the official DBZ website, there were two polls on choices for hypothetical actors for the live-action DBZ movie, and Li and Chan got picked by fans for Goku and Vegeta, respectively. Whether that monkey king project and DBZ are one in the same remains to be seen... Thanks to the Anime News Service for the news. "
Taken from this place, http://www.myfavoritegames.com/ (funny that a Dragon Ball website actually has nothing to do with Dragon Ball in its title).
Anyway, what do you guys make of this? I for one, hope to god it's just some crappy rumour from the lollernets.

All they did was copy-and-paste from Anime News Service, who themselves are grasping at straws to draw a comparison with their mention of an old poll FUNimation ran.

Well, Jet Li's website states that both Chan and Li are producing the film, not necessarily acting in it; also, the trailer to Fearless calls it "Jet Li's last epic martial arts masterpiece" or something similar. I'm going to have to go with VegettoEX on this one, seems these guys are just taking stabs at the dark every time they hear anything in relation to the DB Live Action movie, being so little as it is.

Re: A lie?
Well the MFG website and forums actually has a large part of it devoted to DB, so it's really not that suprising.Dominator wrote:Taken from this place, http://www.myfavoritegames.com/ (funny that a Dragon Ball website actually has nothing to do with Dragon Ball in its title).

It defies sense as to why a Hollywood producer would even partake in making a Live Action film now, considering the failing market for Dragonball Z in the US. Perhaps their could be a Japanese Live action venture, but I doubt the international market would be interested in the slightest.

Well I'm sure if nobody here wanted it, FUNi could dub it and provide the japanese version with subtitles, as if nobody here wanted it it wouldn't be hard to get the rights to.Blade wrote:It defies sense as to why a Hollywood producer would even partake in making a Live Action film now, considering the failing market for Dragonball Z in the US. All the fanboying aside, as much as we want a veteran martial artist to portaray Gokuu it won't happen. I can't ever believe we'll ever get our own DBZ movie. Case Closed. So this is about as true as The Onion. The idea of a movie has almost become a joke among the more serious fans. So in retrospect, it's a nice idea, yet it lacks the whole "execution" aspect.
