Japanese Dragon Box Help?
I've mentioned this in a couple topics like the non-thread worthy one but haven't gotten a reply. Can anyone help with what I should be paying for each one so I know I'm not getting ripped off (well, the least ripped off possible anyway)? I'm specifically concerned with the Dragon Ball Dragon Box but any help on the others is appreciated too. By the way, no idea why there's a guy selling them all on eBay for $80,000. I know that's too much. Thank you!
P.S. I realize there is a similar topic like this from (I think) 2015 but nothing pricing wise is detailed except the Z boxes.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
I got the Dragon Ball Box in Like New condition for 36,800 yen, which is about $330USD at the current exchange rate, and had it shipped to me via Tenso*. It's probably quite expensive, and there were cheaper options available, but since those weren't in Like New condition and I highly coveted the item, it was something I was willing to take on the chin. There's a bunch of listings here, ranging from Acceptable condition to Like New (as well as some heinous prices for New condition). When I looked for it a few months ago, some of them even had the Budokai arena playset!
*If you're wondering what Tenso is, it's a handy little website that ships internationally from Tokyo for an extra shipping fee. You get your own address to mail to, which makes them extremely convenient for orders that aren't able to be shipped outside of Japan.

Cool thanks. Is it supposed to have a Dragon Book? I'm seeing an eBay listing for a higher price than you mentioned but no Dragon Book is in their picturesKBABZ wrote:I got the Dragon Ball Box in Like New condition for 36,800 yen, which is about $330USD at the current exchange rate, and had it shipped to me via Tenso*. Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
The Dragon Book is normally contained in "book" 7, which only has two discs. This differs from Dragon Box GT which has it outside on its own in the overall boxset (which to be perfectly honest is more convenient). The book has a pure white background, so it's different from the slightly yellow colour of the DVD books.Forte224 wrote:Cool thanks. Is it supposed to have a Dragon Book? Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
Ah ok. The set on eBay looks nice but it's $386+$19 shipping so I guess I'll pass. Guess I'll check out those Amazon links and see if I can figure out what the hell I'm doing, hahaKBABZ wrote:The Dragon Book is normally contained in "book" 7, which only has two discs. It's honestly pretty easy, the hardest part is figuring out how to input the Tenso address correctly when you're buying (and I've done it successfully twice!).Forte224 wrote:Ah ok. Well if you compare to the retail price of ¥105,000, ¥36,800 doesn't seem quite bad!KBABZ wrote:I got the Dragon Ball Box in Like New condition for 36,800 yen, which is about $330USD at the current exchange rate, and had it shipped to me via Tenso*. Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
$300 a box (for just the dvds and box)
But if you're also going for the cardboard box as well as the special items than probably $500-600 a box. I know box 1 and 2 sell for $500-750 for everything but I usually see them as a pair for $1200.
I spent retail when I bought mine, however they were stolen so rebought everything INCLUDING the US boxes which sadly aren't mint (box 2 has a small crease... and 7 has a small crease) but nothing major you'll see in a bookshelf. My Z Box 1(jp) has a small crease on one of it's corners on the side but thankfully the way I display it you wouldn't notice it. Box 2 (JP) has a few scuffs on DBOX, and the tops adhesive seems to becoming undone but it's only a small corner so not going to add clear gorilla clue and possibly ruin it.
Just get whatever is cheapest and has the box as well as the dvd folders and call it a day.
I've also posted mine on a bookshelf in the show off your crap thread

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
Ouuuch man, I'm so sorry. My US Box 6 isn't perfect either, the top back corner is noticeably scuffed up but it was in the listing and I guess I don't mind it. Can't decide how I want to do the Z boxes. The figures are a big thing that sets them apart from the US ones but not sure if I wanna drop the extra cash. But thanks for the info!Daimo-Rukiri wrote:$300 a box (for just the dvds and box)

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
By DB Dragon Box has a few "cuts" on the exterior. I put "cut" in quotes because it's not like they were attacked by a knife or anything, but more that they've been "scored" or someone made line-indendations or something. Again, it was in the listing so I didn't mind either. The only thing I regret is that I didn't go a tad higher for one that had the Budokai playset.Forte224 wrote:Ouuuch man, I'm so sorry. Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
I paid around $400 for my Dragon Ball Dragon Box, granted, that also came with the Tenkaichi Budokai diorama as well, so take that as you will. Not sure how much you should take off if you just want the Box and not the diorama.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
I got ripped off on the Dragon Ball Dragon Box, but this was years ago. I only saw Dragon Boxes through eBay and at the time, I based my decisions on the prices for Dragon Boxes on there.
So I got my Dragon Ball Dragon Box for $800 (total rip-off if I do say so myself. But I had the money and didn't mind, so it is what it is)
I got the movies for $450
I got GT for $350
I got Dragon Ball Z Volume 2 for $400 and asked if that person had Volume 1 (that he didn't post) and he happened to have it, so I got all of Z for $800.
Rip-off? Sure. But I didn't mind and I'm glad that I actually have them.

Oh wow that's a lot. Still less than the guy asking for $80,000 thoughTheGreatness25 wrote:I got ripped off on the Dragon Ball Dragon Box, but this was years ago. I only saw Dragon Boxes through eBay and at the time, I based my decisions on the prices for Dragon Boxes on there.

I've considered snapping up the GT box for my next project after I've finished The First Chapters, but I'm not sure if that'd be worth it or not.

Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
The one that's $80,000 is likely a "brand new" listing basically it means it's "likely" never to have been opened and safely stored since it's purchase. And I'd assume it would be for all boxes. If they sell em new you still can get that at retail to even lower prices so yea $80,000 is a ripoff and the total price if they were all new and boxed "no damage" etc would be $10,000 but that's a big if even then.Forte224 wrote:Oh wow that's a lot. o-samurai-jp usually has good prices on the Dragon Boxes.
Re: Japanese Dragon Box Help?
The funny thing about the $80,000 Dragon Box listing is that it has been relisted over and over again for the last couple of years if I remember correctly.

You mean that Canada listing? Is he trying to sell it or...what?... That's a lot of fees just to keep relisting.Bardo117 wrote:The funny thing about the $80,000 Dragon Box listing is that it has been relisted over and over again for the last couple of years if I remember correctly.
