I've always imagined if a live-action series is made, it can be called the DBCS (Dragon Ball Cinematic Series) and can adapt the movies similar to Marvel where they change certain things for adaptation reasons, and stay faithful in the same way Marvel does. Still, I don't know if they have the rights because of something Geekdom or someone else might've explained.

I think if Disney were to make a live-action movie they'd stretch the definition, kinda like what Jungle Book did where it had a single live-action character in a movie that was otherwise 100% CG.

If Disney were smart, they wouldn't have any live-action characters. The style just doesn't translate to reality the way it does to animation. I'd be far more excited to see Toriyama's artstyle interpreted through the lens of modern high-budget CG than live action.

Given how DBE was a failure, I doubt they will do another live action DB movie. I would rather if Disney did not do a live action Dragon Ball movie since I don't like their recent track record of movies. Their live action movies of Alice in Wonderland and Jungle Book are not very good in my opinion. I also don't like the new Star Wars movies and most of the MCU movies are not very good in my opinion.

I think a live-action Dragon Ball movie could be really awesome, and I think Disney could very well do it. No clue if they will, but at the very least, they'll likely be distributing the next animated DB movie in the US if the Fox deal goes ahead, so who knows.

Which of course applies to any product, not just a live-action movie of an anime. So far, much like with video game movies, not one live-action take on an anime has ever really worked (with a rare exception I'm sure I'm unaware of), so I don't think it'll happen anytime soon (the DBZ live-action project, I mean). After all, the reason why we've gotten so many superhero movies is because they're a proven hit and a consistent product that audiences consider good. If it were nothing but Spider-Man 3, Suicide Squad and Fant4stic then there wouldn't be a bajillion of them.

The problem with Dragonball in live action is the racism issue.

Do you cast Japanese actors for Goku, Vegeta, etc? if they cast white actors for them, wouldn't the Japanese fans be angry? Outside of a few characters like Bulma, Android 18, Mr. Satan etc, all the major characters should be Japanese.
