You know the new forms are simple when....

Post by mecha3000 » Mon Jan 08, 2018 8:19 am

....You can't even tell they're new. I'm going to be honest. Everyone was making a big deal out of the new ending and next episode preview for showcasing Vegeta's "new form" and even a friend of mine said it looked kinda new, but when I looked at it: All I saw was Super Saiyan Blue. Sure the eyes look a little different (similar to Ultra Instinct) and I GUESS the shading of the hair kinda looks different, but it's nothing that visually would immediately tell me NEW FORM!!! Maybe I just have bad eye (I'm sure the responses would tell me that)?

I don't know, maybe that's a good thing. I have to remember Super Saiyan 2 wasn't too different from Super Saiyan because it was just an added bang, more hair volume, and electricity. Maybe, that's what they're going for with the new form. I have to admit, it does make it more fun for speculation's sake.

Oh, and I'm not sure if this will get moved somewhere else since it's similar to other posts and if it does, that's cool (Obviously, I'd have no power over that).

I think the difference between it ( Assuming it really is a new form) and Regular Ssjb will become very noticeable once we actually see it in the Anime/Manga.

The darker blue looks better.

And the added Pupils will be very clear.

And like you said, it's about the same difference between Ssj and Ssj2.

I will be honest i didn't notice it right away either. Till it got pointed out to me. I thought it was just Blue drawn different.

I like the way we are going. My dream is for Goku and Vegeta to stop relying on transformations entirely in the future, so that they fight at 100% in their natural state. But for that to look good, they would need to remove those stupid highlights from their hair.
That could be something that happens in the last battle of all Dragon Ball. May it be Goku vs Vegeta/Freeza/Beerus/Grand Priest/whoever, I want Goku to fight the latest time in his base form, as the last fight of all Dragon Ball should be similar to Goku vs Piccolo at the 23rd Budokai: a badass battle between two fighters at around the same level of power.

Seriously, why do y’all judge so hard before the episodes come out? The transformation wasn’t the most obvious but it’s a PREVIEW. It’s a tease, I’m surprised they showed ANYTHING at all. Before UI, half the post here were complaints about how simple and non special looking the transformation was and we see how that turned out. No reason to be upset already.

Uh, never said I was upset. I was just shocked that so many people deemed it so that Vegeta gained a new form when I couldn't even tell at first. I also admitted that Super Saiyan 2 is not all that different from Super Saiyan - so there's a precedent for simple powerups with subtle differences.

I don't joke. I'm not here to make friends. And I don't care if you like me or not. It's my opinion and only my opinion matters. Not yours.

I have a similar preference. Personally, I'd like Goku and Vegeta to stop using everything except Ultra Instinct (though I know that's likely not going to happen...).

The fact it does look so similar to Blue felt like a sign that it's not going to be an incredibly important form that changes the entire dynamic of the story and the characters like SS1 and 2 and Ultra Instinct. Like Trunks's power-up, it's aesthetically so similar to their old form, it means you can still market it as 'Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta' while having the appeal of a powered-up new form at the same time. Perhaps them trying to have their cake and eat it too could backfire from a marketing standpoint, but it seems to be working so far.
I could have gotten into anything...and yet I chose the story aimed at young Japanese boys about martial arts, and later about super-powerful aliens punching each other really hard.

They've already tried it with Saiyan Beyond God, now haven't thay? Didn't work out too well, to the point they actually went back on it.

I'd love this.

Alright, I brought this up a few days ago and I'll bring it up again to see if anyone thins anything of it. I came up with three theories: ULTRA BLUE (midpoint between SSB and UI), SSB Rage (Vegeta's version of Trunks' rage form), and SS2 BLUE (Super Saiyan 2 Blue). At this point, I think it's Super Saiyan 2 Blue. My reason?

Ever notice how regular SS2 has electricity around it and this new SSB form has sparkles? Well, a spark can emit electricity in real-life so I'm going to say this might be a symbolic way of representing a god version of SS2. While regular SS2 has uncontrolled electricity surging around the user, SS2B has controlled sparkles around the user. I think it might be a way of displaying a god ki user's more controlled Super Saiyan 2.

Market it as SSGSS you mean. ;)

But anyway you are right merch schedules until May have been revealed and the only significant Vegeta related thing we have in 2018 is this new line for May and Vegeta is described as SSGSS. Ikari Trunks hardly got marketed and when he did they simply treated it as SS2.

SSGSS has proven to be really popular so it makes sense to still treat the new form as that. Like any KK Goku is still treated as basically SSGSS.
