There are some great Barry Watson quotes in there, haha.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Yeah, this was a pretty major article that made the rounds back then. It was the first real peek at the then-still-very-new cast and their production.

Nice little time capsule.

Oh, thank you! I've been wanting to re-read that forever, and the link at DBZ Uncensored is long-dead. I figured the Dallas Observer expunged their records at some point or something.
Do you follow the most comprehensive and entertaining Dragon Ball analysis series on YouTube? If you do, you're smart and awesome and fairly attractive. If not, see what all the fuss is about without even having to leave Kanzenshuu:

Gosh, does this take me back. I grew up in Dallas and thought it was a HUGE deal that my favorite show was on the cover of the Observer. Great article. Hard to believe it is almost 20 years old!
EDIT: I should also say it was vindication after another Dallas publication (can't remember which) called Dragon Ball "softcore porn."

That was a conversation with the 'rents ^_^'

Well if you consider some of the scenes in the early manga with Goku, Bulma, and Roshi...
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

See the thing about porn is that it has to be explicitly sexy with the intent to arouse. To me it always came off as crude (and in 2018, disgusting) humour.
