Ripping To Apple

Post by DBZ MAN » Wed Sep 27, 2006 5:38 pm

I would like to start making AMVs in a more legit way then just stealing other peoples footage from their music videos and adding it to my own. This means I have to rip my DVD's I guess but I have no clue on how to go about it or what I need. I searched this thread and didn't find anything that exactly releates to this so here goes;

How do you rip DVD footage and upload it onto an Apple Mac?

I have iMovie to edit on.

Apologies if this is a frequently asked Question.

I also want to know how to rip Video Game footage but I think I can find that answer in one of the threads.

First of all, this thread here should be a bit helpful to you. Also Mac The Ripper could be of some help to you. I assume you are running OSX. I honestly don't know anything about Mac The Ripper, seeing as I am running Windows. Reading over that forum could help, I'm sure it won't hurt. :P Looking through Doom 9 could be of some help as well. More help than me. :wink:

Cool thanks I managed to get it working and rip the DVD but it turned the format to VOB. files and they don't work on iMovie. I had to download VLC player to watch them. Is there any next stage of what to do?

Next thing for you to do is READFAG! That of course means Read ErMaC and AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides. Download the AMVApp here. Reading over this should help you out a great deal. Reading everything in "A&E's Technical Guides to All Things Audio and Video" wouldn't hurt either.

On another note, I also found Kirin's Guide To Making AMV's with iMovie. That should be very helpful.

I haven't read A&E's Guide in a long time, and I've actually never read Kirin's Guide, and I don't ever plan to. I'm just supplying some links that could be useful to you. Sorry that I myself don't have too much to offer, but I'm drunk, it's Friday and I'm home alone. :roll: If I've confused you even more, I'm sorry. If I've helped you out some on your journey to AMV making then, YAY! :P
