Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
I feel like SSJ3 was the transformation that was wanked over the most back when it was just Z. It was the final transformation after all, but in Super the form is sometimes treated as if it doesn't even exist. It barely ever appears in the show, hell they completely skipped over it during Goku's transformations against Jiren. So now that Super has pretty much pushed SSJ3 to the side as the most useless and least seen transformation, does the rarity of it make you appreciate the form more?

I always liked SSJ3 but Super did not do any effort to make me appreciate it even more than I already did lol
But this is unpopular form anyway so I can understand them saving on the animation here lol

Not really, I liked it enough before but that was mostly because of the way Goku transformed against fat Buu any subsequent appearance in Z didn't have that same impact at to be honest barely even missed it in DBS, the design alone makes it seem it wasn't supposed to be seen often.
If anything DBS has made me appreciate that SS3 wasn't the final (non-GT) form of Goku!

Nope, if anything it just cemented its place as "Super Saiyan 2 Third Grade": an ineffective transformation.
...I'd like Caulifla managing to reach it, only for Cabba going the Vegeta\Manga!Trunks way and being stronger with an improved SS2.

Yes as it's my 2nd favorite form after Ssj2. I like that the manga has used it more so hopefully it'll continue to do so as it goes on. I think the reason the anime avoids using it is because of the work that needs to go into animating the hair so hopefully we'll see it more once the anime's back with better pre-production.

Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
Nope. I've soured on the form over the years and Super, in both the anime and manga, hasn't made me appreciate it any more. If anything, Super, the anime specifically, made me appreciate SSJ2 more.
Spoiler:
Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
Not really. It's pretty useless and I can't wait for Super Saiyan God or another new transformation like Ikari to be Caulifla's go-to form.

Red would look good on her, so would blue. Now that Goku and Vegeta have moved past SSGSS hopefully they're more open about giving it to other characters.JulieYBM wrote:Not really. After all the dull hair recolors we've been getting, absolutely.
Toriyama has only become more lazy over the years with transformations and his latest UI Goku sketch proves it. Even his attempt to sketch SSJ4 had a lot more effort put into it than Blue ffs.

Not really, long hair doesn't really suit goku the way it does his bro.

It was a waste as soon as SSJG was introduced. I wanted to see Goku train his SSJ3 to be reliable at least.

Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
I hope that if Caulifla ever gets the form we can finally have an "SSJ3 Mastered" version like FPSSJ where it doesn't take such a huge stamina toll to maintain the transformation. I was disappointed that Goku never tried to master the SSJ3 form.Torturephile wrote:It was a waste as soon as SSJG was introduced. I wanted to see Goku train his SSJ3 to be reliable at least.
Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
I don't know if it made me appreciate the form more, but I agree that it was criminally underused in the anime; drawbacks and all. In stark contrast, Blue was overused. At times it really did seem like the individual Super Saiyan stages were implemented based on whatever was popular or convenient for the animators as opposed to what benefited the story's internal consistency, and I think that ultimately harmed the show more than it helped.
Personally, I'd love to see Super Saiyan 3 get more representation in the future.

Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
Can't appreciate more what I didn't appreciate or like in the first place.
A form pulled out of nowhere that contributed nothing to any fight it was in and has more issues than positives besides being stronger than the last form. Long dumb hair with no eyebrows. Completely outclassed and thrown away by forms that make every Super Saiyan form worthless in general.
It's not lazy like Super Cyan, but it definitely is my least favorite form and I'm glad they highlighted Super Saiyan 2 more in the anime as it has my favorite look for Goku in the series.

Apart from the rare fights here and there the manga might give it, I think we've seen all it has to offer. Moving forward the focus will most likely be on Goku and Vegeta trying to access UI at will with Vegeta potentially perfecting his "evolved" Blue form on the side if it comes back.Marlowe89 wrote:Personally, I'd love to see Super Saiyan 3 get more representation in the future.

Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
Uhh, it makes me appreciate it less since now it's considered a waste of energy. Super has now made it obsolete as the new god ki forms drain less stamina and have more control. Nonetheless, the SSJ3 design overall looks very cool. I do hope that just like Trunks mastered higher grades of SSJ2, that Gotenks or another character will master higher grades of SSJ3 to make it relevant. Goku and Vegeta, though aren't going to do this.

Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
I meant more for the anime, whether that would be the upcoming movie or possibly another TV serialization. I don't think it's a form that needs a ton of screen time, but something a bit more lengthy than a random still shot would be nice.sintzu wrote: Apart from the rare fights here and there the manga might give it, I think we've seen all it has to offer.
The Tournament of Power was largely an improvement over prior arcs when it came to form representation, so its near-complete absence was pretty noticeable for me.

Considering SSJ3 is my favorite form next to SSJ4, absolutely.
Re: Has Super made you appreciate SSJ3 more?
I’ll agree with this as well. I’ve never been a huge fan of SSJ3. It’s an interesting look and I am appreciative of the first time we see the transformation being pretty epic but it just doesn’t seem to be an improvement over SSJ2. If anything, aside from the “power” increase, I always thought it would make fights more difficult.Dragono wrote:It actually made me appreciate ssj2 more.
The fact that it appears not long after Gohan suggested that Videl might want to cut her hair so it isn’t grabbed in fights only helps that argument.
