Bandai Namco Entertainment have announced that the Open Beta Test for the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Ball FighterZ will be between 13:00 on 10 August - 16:00 on 12 August (both JST) with 23 playable characters and the ability to use the new Extreme Type controls.
Get hype!

Isn't this just a port?

It's not a straight port. It has some extra modes, including a 1 vs 1, 2vs 2 and six-player multiplayer option. Why would it matter if it was "just" a port, though?

Interesting about 1 vs 1! Will they implement that to the ps4 version?

Are we sure that "local 1v1 and 2v2 multiplayer" is referring to the characters per team and not to the local multiplayer capabilites of the Nintendo Switch? I.e. having two/four people on two/four Switch consoles play together. I can't find a source that would confirm with certainty that we will see 1 / 2 selected characters in a match.

I really want a 1 vs 1 mode. Team Battles are pretty hard to master, and I usually found myself playing better when me and my opponent are down to our last characters.

Says exclusive feature, so probably not.

Guess I should buy that then as I didn't buy the game yet. Will it flow as well as the ps4 version?

It's confirmed 60fps and 1080p.
I'm just disappointed none of the website staff seem to think its worth reporting on anything to do with Fighterz on the Switch.

This is so weird. I check the main page almost daily, and I only remember seeing two of those articles (the announcement and the one mentioning Butoden, not the manga spin-off or the one that clarifies replacement music). Jesus I don't know what's wrong with me. Sorry!

When I played the beta it felt like it flowed better than the PS4 version.

People have presumably played it on objectively better consoles.

I felt it played fine on Switch (though I haven't played it on anything else). My complaints were the long loading times when you first start it up and the lack of access to the vs computer mode which meant I couldn't adequately practice characters who weren't playable in training mode.
On hiatus.

Has a one-on-one mode been confirmed?

And, clearly, a lot of people were waiting to play it on their objectively better console.

These kinds of comments are absurd. Don't be like this.

I'm not saying the PS4 and the Xbox One (and PC) are objectively better platforms to win some internet console war argument. I'm saying they're objectively better consoles to play FighterZ on because they don't suffer from the same framerate issues and poor online service the Switch port will most likely have, considering their track record with most multiplats that reach the system.
Obviously you'll buy and enjoy FighterZ if a Switch is your only option, but I'm sure that's not the case for most people posting here who have presumably played the PS4/XBO/PC version already.

I've got a PS4 at home. No switch, but my brother does. I'm a very casual gamer, so I'm considering buying it for switch if it's true that there's a 1 vs 1 mode.

I really hope that the 1v1 and 2v2 are labeled as exclusives in order to make more sales for the Switch (and eventually be added to the PS4/X1/PC versions after a few months).
