How many years do you expect the current DB Renaissance to continue?

How many years do you give this revival? I mean a period in which at least the main continuity and possible other spin-offs further progress through films, anime series and manga.
After this period of revival, the franchise can continue to run in an 'active sleep'-formula (focuss on video games, merchandise ...), waiting for a new period of revival.

Several signs on the wall suggest that we are still in full expansion at the moment:

- The franchise has made huge profits in recent years. It would be financially uninteresting to stop, now that the popularity is still increasing.
- The new DBS film Broly is being released in more countries, even in countries where DB is not yet very popular.
- TOEI is building a department that is completely dedicated to DB.
- Although the DBS anime has stopped, the DBS manga continues to run.
- On Jump Festa 2018 there will be an important announcement about DB, probably a new series or next film.
- ...

Toei said OP, Precure and DB are their flagship titles, so uh yeah probably never. They will continue doing what they are doing now. TV series for 2 yrs., then follow up with a movie while the manga and spin-off series continue, then back to TV and repeat this formula over and over again.

Sadly, for the forseeable future. It may go dormant for a while, but that period wont be as long as the period between GT and Kai.

Well known franchises are no longer allowed to end because nostalgia money, so never, imo.

There might be small breaks when important people to the franchise pass away, but nothing will force a hibernation ever again.

That's the world we live in for better or worse.

In a world where the MCU and Disney Star Wars exist, I'd say for a very long time.

Also, it was a different time when GT ended. The series was just taking off in the western world so TOEI didn't need a new series to keep the money train going. Now most of the world is getting new DB around the same time so TOEI would have a lot more to lose if new content was ending.

Thought the difference between something like DB and the MCU or even Star Wars is DB is Goku's story. The MCU is a bunch of different stories set in the same universe. That can go on forever without pulling the taffy. Star Wars doesn't seem like it's limited to the Skywalker Saga.

I do think DB will go into intermittent hibernation with the exception of things like the video games.

As long as the intellectual property keeps making money, Dragon Ball will continue to pump out new content.

In terms of it being popular and promoted, if the Super Broly film wasn't being made a case could have been made for right this very moment as they sort out how to better manage and produce Super so that it isn't so achingly average.

In terms of quality content after Super Broly, it's a different story. Dark as it is to say, I foresee that the current Renaissance will continue up until the deaths of either Nozawa or Toriyama himself, because we're getting to the point where either old age or past smoking habits (current? Did Toriyama every quit?) will mean we lose them sometimes in the next decade or so (not guaranteed, obviously). In the case of Nozawa it might even be that her vocal chords are physically unable to voice the character anymore. When that happens I very much imagine Toei will take an extended break to figure out how to handle future content, and there's no way such a big and forced creative shift won't have an impact in how fans perceive the new content, which has a high chance of being a negative reaction similar to what happened with GT after Z. It'll just be... different, moreso than how Super itself is different from the classic content as it already is. I suspect that this onset is one of the factors behind the creation of the Dragon Ball room.

The franchise will likely take a hiatus after Masako Nozawa and/or Toriyama dies, but not as long as the gap between GT and Yo Son Goku and Friends Return, due to the series' massive success and popularity.

Given how nothing can stay dead or tell its story and promptly go the fuck away, I expect this to keep annoying me for a long time coming.

I hope they don't string it along once then run out of ideas. I can't' say I have any clue when it could possibly end, but for now I am extremely satisfied/excited about what we have been getting and I hope this level of content continues. If it drops, I'd prefer they just call it a day.

Of course, most likely it'll continue for the foreseeable future for money reasons.
