Episode #0049! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian go over the plethora of gaming news, and detail the extravaganza of information that is daizenshuu numero seven. We also start up a contest to give away daizenshuu three on our one-year anniversary show! Top 5 Tenka-ichi Budokai, DBZ ABCs, your e-mails, and more round out the episode. Referenced sites: Whee! Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the monumental *forty-nine* episodes, now.

Apologies on the late-ness of this episode. Friday night, among other things keeping us from the recording session, resulted in an orgy of gaming and ice cream with Mr. Deluxe and Mr. Heller. Here's an example of what happens to our clean living quarters when they (well, mostly Andrew) comes around:

Image

Anyway, the episode's up! We're closing in on the one-year episode! Make sure you check out that contest... win a daizenshuu! Courtesy of... err... Daizenshuu EX! And fans of Daizenshuu EX! What a great place :D.

Speaking of daizenshuu, those of you craving a little more information on daizenshuu seven (and I know you're out there... you continue to post and e-mail me about it) will be happy to learn a little more about the book.

Regarding Meri's Top 5 list... we totally forgot the Ano-Yo-Ichi Budokai, which probably speaks volumes about why it's not on the list :P. Also, we didn't count the half-of-a-fight you see in DBGT episode 64.

Great podcast.
Much better than last week's episode, alhtough a little bit on the short side.
I'm suprised meri did not pick the budokai from movie 9 as Trunks vs. Tien is usually a fan favorite.
Trunks putting a fist through Kogu is also a memorable moment.
Ahem....do i see.....another doomrider in the distance ?

I just noticed that the clip for the 22nd world tournament in the top five list is a clip from Sagas. You see, everything has its purpose and saga's only purpose was to be a screenshot. :P

Very true. It was, after all, the last new animated footage in a videogame we've gotten recently. Funny how a piece of crap like Sagas that was only released in North America got new footage, but the Sparking series doesn't.

Wow, I'm sure you guys had a field day putting up the oh so suggestive looking scrrencap for Meri's #2. Also, your little pic of all of your game stations sprawled on the floor with their game control wires all out and about just reminded me why I never liked anything else other than handheld games. Of course, now it's different with them newfangled wireless controllers and whatnot (trails off into a corner)...

And yeah, kudos for finally going over daizenshuu 7. Like the other run-downs I've heard of it, it's apparently very "text-ey" and needs someone who actually knows how to read it. I was also kinda disappointed that the contest didn't require as much for the sender's behalf, like the last contest. I'm guessing you guys got tired of actually reading each and every little answer for a question and are just cutting to the chase of a random drawing. Makes sense :D.

Oh Mike, you've forgotten one of the most classic Budokai of them all, the DBGT episode 41 Tenkaichi Budokai! We had Pan fighting to a faked stomach ache, Goku as a kid again to the Tournament Announcer's eyes, Uub in disguise, and Gohan and Trunks licking ice-cream in the stands with Videl. And you can't forget Vegeta; he wanted one more round against Goku (for fun), and it cost "Kakarrot" the final round of the Junior Division. That was such a fun episode!! Oh damn, forgot to mention Mr. Satan's hilarious Hulk Hogan style retirement; he wins in overly exaggerated drama, only to announce he'll continue fighting for the fans. It can't get any better than that! :P

Correction: 21st, in the 22nd, Goku is giving Tien the boston-crab on the verge of a hernia.

But we mentioned that one in the show. It just didn't make the list.

As much as Papaya Man is... well... The Man...

So true, Conan. The only one that I have "memorized" is the 23rd because it really is the best one. To make up for it I promise to always remenber the 23th Tenkaichi Budoukai and all the others. :o Goku's submission hold on Ten is just plain awkward.. :?

I adore the 23rd Budokai. It's my all-time favorite. X3
For the contest, should we just place "Contest Entry" in the e-mail title?

Doesn't matter what you put. I've had a few with no subject, at all :P.

Some Notes

The News: You can glean all that stuff about the new DS game off that one scan, Julian-sama? Very impressive. But eh? No mention of the 1-3 Movies Box Set coming out next month?

The Topic: This is what I was talking about earlier. (PLUG: I created and then subseuqently killed this thread.) I don't own any Daizenshuu but have always been curious nonetheless, so this was wonderful. A lot of what I didn't know concerning these sacred relics was revealed to me. Thanks for exposing me to the legend that is a DBZ Daizenshuu.

You brought up the Trunks timeline theories? You're going to fuel another one of those threads, you know. I'm going to bring up the search engine and count how many times this has been brought up on the board . . . I wonder what the record number of pages is?

The Contest: Man, yer promoting that Daizenshuu like a pimp selling a good time. There was something almost sexual in that introduction. (Burns: Almost sexual, isn't it, Smithers?) And it's
true . . . you know we want it. I know I've already sent in MY contest entry.

But while I'm thinking of it, was there ever a winner for the Red Ribbon Army contest some months back? I'm sure there was, and I simply missed the announcement in an earlier podcast when I was still struggling with dial-up too much to download regularly. Not to mention that, had I won, surely I would have been in some way notified.

Hey! Crazy idea. Let's all throw loose change at each other and buy DaizenshuuEX a Wii to headline the next contest. It's a far-out idea, but I know I'd chip in . . . uh, even though I've already pre-ordered my own. Or maybe just a Wii version of Sparking! NEO.

How the episode should have ended:

Mike: This was Episode 49. 50, 51, 52, coming up on that one year anniversary; I am so excited, you guys! This episode will be awesome.

Dub Freeza soundbyte: There. Now I'm stoked.

EDIT: 25th Tenkaichi Budokai. Well, for me anyway. Ka-Me-Ka-Me-Ha!

In that case, that's two tournaments in "Dragon Ball GT": there's also the one at the very end.

Wow, my handle has been spoken verbally! I feel so special.
I'm sorry my questions were incredibly vague. Yes it was the Japanese version and yes they were the Funi DVD's I meant to specify. Your answers helped me greatly. Thanks again.
