Akira Toriyama's involvement in DBGT
I was wondering how much involvement did Akira Toriyama have on GT. Did he come up with the SSJ 4 transformation?

He did some character designs and provided some of the initial story, but that's about as far as his involvement ran.
Most of the other designs were done by his "art-style doppleganger", Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who also designed Bardock and his subordinates. I believe it was him who did the SSJ4 design. Toriyama also drew an SSJ4 Goku sketch with a message on it (could someone dig it up? I know it's on the forum somewhere
).
He liked it anyway. What a whimsical old man.

I know that I've seen said SSJ4 sketch somewhere. I'm pretty sure it was in the DBGT Dragon Box but I can't seem to find the image anywhere. The Tori-bot wrote:He did some character designs and provided some of the initial story, but that's about as far as his involvement ran.

Well, it was a collaoration of sorts between him and Nakatsuru. Nakatsuru did the first designs, then Toriyama changed the names and the designs to what would finally be used in the Special. たとえば このGTに登場する『スーパーサイヤ人4』というのは中鶴くんのデザインで、上に描いた絵は、ボクがそれを見て描いた 似顔絵なんです。うまく描いたでしょうか?

Yeah, that's the exact one. I like the sketch. It looks more "Toriyama-ized".Li'l Lemmy wrote:You mean this old thing, right? The Tori-bot wrote:Most of the other designs were done by his "art-style doppleganger", Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who also designed Bardock and his subordinates. Hey, there's one aspect of this discussion I just thought of. I know Toriyama-sensei did several pieces of art for GT. I only have one...

Does anyone have any others? How many did he do?
