Kaioh-sama's jokes...

I thought we could discuss some of Kaioh-sama's jokes throughout the series, and not only the Japanese and the English versions of the anime and manga, but other countries' dubs and manga editions.

The first question I want to mention and ask about is the joke that Son Goku tells Kaioh-sama to get him to train him for the Saiyan fight.

I never checked the English dub or original Japanese... I've only read the Castillian-Spanish manga. In it, he says "There were two men, and the one in the middle fell down!"

How does this compare to the original Japanese and other countries' versions?

Also, feel free to discuss other jokes, and share your country's jokes! This could be fun...

Heh oh man what a classic the one in the middle, but there is only two of them! Anyways, the japanese version.

The first joke Goku says is '' the blanket...flew up..............up and away!''

Second, ''the dumb cat.....fell...asleep''

LOL those original version jokes are so random... In the Viz translation of the manga, Goku said something like:

"What do Comedians even read!? ...Comic books!"

I remember that Tien's original joke to make Kaio-sama laugh had something to do with snot being frozen up your nose...

Yeah, the japanese pun "share" is always a play on words and Gokuh's were pretty darn pathetic....

1st: Futon ga....futonda!! - The futon....uh (correct me if I'm wrong) got fat?

2nd: Neko wa.....nekoronda!! - The cat ....lies down/stretches out!!

3rd: I have no idea what he's saying......

Sucks not having subtitles....

EDIT: Oh wait! I think the third is something along the lines of "Enpitsu wa enkatsu(maybe?)!!" -The pencil is smooth? blunt? meh....

Yes, I had the subtitles and used them to make my previous post. Sun_Wukong I know what you mean...

There is one Kaio-sama tells Goku because he thought Goku was "too nervous to laugh."

Kaio-sama: "Do you have pig's feet? Yes, I do. Wear shoes and maybe nobody'll notice!"

That was from the Viz manga, by the way.

I'm just saying.. I'm just saying that Kaio-sama/King Kai's existence is a joke. Let me finish. First of all, he's the generic Uncle Larry or Hank. Second he lives alone in a planet with a monkey named Bubbles. Third, to pass the time he has muscular fighters tell him jokes and catch his monkey.

In all seriousness, Cell's explosion was the greatest gift that he's ever received, imo. <--This is what happens when your class is cancelled and myspace is down.

In an online DB manga they translated Goku's quotes into these into these...

My dutch manga says (sorry for the dumb translation to english):

Kaio: What goes out but stays at home? The heater!

Goku: What do sea animals do in the weekend? (That's a dutch play on words... the dutch word is weekdieren... and thus weekend, haha o.o)

The original English dub seemed like something little children would laugh at. It was something like “well my uncle is so big that when he sits around the house, he really sits around the house”.

I don't get the disappearing pencil or the floppy quilt flopped away, but it looks like Goku was fighting maybe using bad jokes is a new attack, you say something so weird that your enemy will be standing there wondering what you said, then you attack!
