Chronologically?... When he left planet Vegeta as a baby.

In release order?... Polyphase Avatron is correct.
The point of Dragon Ball is to enjoy it. Never lose sight of that.

I think the OP is more asking when did Goku realize he could survive in space. And the answer to that is: he can't! Saiyans can't survive in space like Frieza can.

According to Toriyama, Goku fought Beerus in the stratosphere, which is not exactly in deep space and there's still air up there.

I don't consider Goku's trip to the Moon with Boss Rabbit an outlier. I think we could chalk it up to him holding his breath, which I think he and other powerful obligate aerobes in the series could get away with. A real life human couldn't do this because their lungs would rupture, but I think Goku could do it, maybe with some sort of ki control. There was a brief moment in DBSuper where Goku experienced vacuum exposure when he fell off of Whis while they were traveling, and experienced basically no ill effect.

There's also cases of real life humans surviving vacuum exposure for up to a minute (you have to release all the air in your lungs to have a chance).

Frieza seems to be a falcultative anaerobe, an organism that can take advantage of oxygen, but doesn't need it (he is seen breathing at times).
