DBZ RPG.
DBZ RPG.
Sorry, not sure which forum to put this in.
I was wondering if anybody knew of any good online RPGs for DB? I can only find BADLY organized rule-less games run by 10 year olds when I do random searches on the net.

I just don't want to start one from scratch and run it by myself. If I were a D&D player I'd be a player, not a dungeon master. (Or is it "dragon master"? Which 'd' is in "DM"?)

New thought: If I were to make a DBZ RPG, would anybody here join it/help run it?
Also, if "Zanzoken" were in the technique list, how would you like to see it used? A speed increase technique like in a Pokemon game, or (if your opponent can't sense ki) an accuracy decreasing technique?

You should check out Byond. I wouldn't say that many of the RPGs on there are great, but there a some really good ones. And not just DB stuff either, it's a nice assortment of 'time wasting while I should be working' fun.

<Kaboom> I'm just glad that he now sounds more like Invader Zim than Rita Repulsa
<Xyex> Original Freeza never sounded like a chick to me.
<Kaboom> Neither does Rita
<Xyex> Good point.

Um. Since it technically does both, why not have it DO both?Dayspring wrote: Also, if "Zanzoken" were in the technique list, how would you like to see it used? A speed increase technique like in a Pokemon game, or (if your opponent can't sense ki) an accuracy decreasing technique?
The accuracy decreasing should get higher the more experienced the user was too.
I was actually refferring to text-based RPGs (unless a kick-ass Byond DBZ RPG exists)You should check out Byond. Well, I just loaded up Dream Seeker and I'm checking which ones I've played, one of them was rather good.
Hmm... If I remeber right 'The Saiyan Within' was decent. There's so many DBZ RPGS to dig through it's sometimes hard to find the good ones.

Man, you know, I forgot to respond to your I'm.
No good DBZ rpgs exist anymore, my friend. I think I can safely assume that.
As for the rpg my boyfriend and I run, it's sort of dead at the moment (we'll bring it back in a bit)...and is like...not at all related to DBZ. We sort of just took the saiyan race and went off that. There is no blowing up planets in a single blast and whatnot. Cell and Freeza never existed. My #18 is from an alternate universe. The toughest guy in the game (the emperor) is one of the very few in the whole empire to reach the super saiyan level.
There's more to it, but I don't feel like writing out the in-depth explanation just so people can understand how #18 got to be an empress...it's weird to hear, I know. However, if someone does want me to explain, just say the word.

I checked out your site and it all made perfect, fun sense. Everybody ends up godding in order to reach SSJ3 and humans and nameks are either 00ber weak because of their lack of transformations, or worse yet, crappy "ultra human" and "hyper namek" transformations are added. Just make it like the manga: it's REEEEAAAALLLLY tough to go SSJ!
I'm thinking of starting one up based LOOSELY off the official DBZ RPG by fuzion (stealing their complex fighting style and adapting it to my needs). I'm going to make it possible for all saiyans to go SSJ, but make it very difficult to reach it on your own or need to train a long time with another SSJ (discouraging the teacher) in order to be taught (like Gohan was). After all that, all I'm going to have SSJ do is add 10 dice to certain stats instead of multiplying everything.

I'd love to help start a DBZ Role Play
for the record I am already part of a RP group that does RPs based off the Skies of Arcadia game universe, the Slayers anime universe, and then theres 2 original stories too. so if you guys want to try and join any of those I can give any of you a reccomendation to the group.
And of course an orignal DBZ RP could be fun too.
I'd reccomend if DBZ at all early Saiyan Saga stuff to avoid evereyone being godmoders. I'd also suggest original characters within the universe

My thoughts: 4 homeworlds-> Earth (humans and androids/cyborgs/clones), Vegeta (Saiyans), Planet Freeza #79 (Freeza's + Zarbon's races), Namek (Namekkians). Other races include Demons (ex: Majin this and that), insert alien race here (roll a 1-4=no transformations, 5-6 = 1).
All Saiyans equal Low Level Warriors. Their first quest is to conquer a frontier planet (great way of getting stronger for Saiyans and planet trade aliens). Once they do they don't keep it or sell it for cash, they give to their homeworld as that is their task as Low Level Warriors. To become an Elite Warrior, you have to have to conquer another known planet (non-frontier or homeworld) like Kanassa or Yardrat or something like that. This would get you a perk like (title of Elite Warriror or) getting extra $$ or something similar to be determined later.
Going SSJ is actually very difficult and will only act as a better version of Oozaru. To shut complainers up that humans and namekkians are too weak, all races but Freeza's (if they're not sent to hell) will be allowed to learn Kaioken up to times 20. (I'll explain how kaioken works later)
Taiyoken will act as a blinding technique-> instead of damage = attack-defense, for after Taiyoken is used damage = attack. (There will be a limit of 1 or 2 times to use it per battle.)
I've got a LOT of surprisingly good ideas (usually any RPGs I ever start suck and suck HARD), but don't have the time to start it until about the 18th because of exams (2 down! W00t~~1)

Fuck this. Anybody know how video game RPGs calculate damage+defense?

They'd learn more techniques (ie: all pre-DBZ was thought to be humans. So I made every technique there human only, or some multi-raced)

Anyone ever try making an MB based DBZ RPG? I'm working on one that's not DBZ but it's going slowly. If we could work out a DBZ one I could work with that instead...

That's what I'm looking into. When a battle starts we'd start a new thread. You'd name whatever technique you're using and then use the dice feature at (I think it's rpghost.com) to e-mail the "referee" the damage. Things like SSJ could simply be "add 10 to your action total" or something. The only people allowed to post in the thread would be the ones participating in the fight somehow (ie: the fighters, the ref/GM, or if the situation calls for it: NPCs or non-combattants that were dragged into the fight). After the battle, lock the thread. I'd use something similar to the official DBZ RPG (by fuzion) method of fighting, except I'd add "Rage" as your typical FF7 "Limit Break" thingy.Anyone ever try making an MB based DBZ RPG? Using http://www.rpghost.com/dicer.shtml, I did a sample battle with myself. God that sounded sad.
This is what got sent to my e-mail:
This is what got sent to my e-mail:
EDIT: From here the 37 would go up against "Bob's" defense. Whatever's left over comes out of Bob's hp. (IE: Bob has a defense of 30. 37-30=7. Bob loses 7 hp.) To avoid godding, the 3 dice are used, otherwise whoever's stronger would ALWAYS automatically win. This way there's more of a chance for the weaker players, but it stays realistic in the sense that the stronger you get, the less damage your opponent's do to you and the more you can do to them.RPG Host's Dice Server has sent you this automated dice roll...
ROLLERS NAME: Dayspring
ROLLED: 3 d 6 + 40 - 10 = 37
Dayspring uses Kamehameha against Bob. His power of 20 + combat of 20=a modifier of +40. Since
he is on planet Vegeta and not used to 10g, he experiences a modifier of -10.
