Question: Does anyone know what the Japanese manual says for this dodging system? Do they also blatanly use the term "shunkan ido"?
Let's say I'm right about that it should be called "super speed", the games sure show otherwise! It really does seem that characters are teleporting around, indicating poorly developed system. You want to see super speed? THIS is super speed. (Look for the afterimages!)
Shin Budokai's dodging system actually looks closer to super speed because when the character dodges, the horizontal lines that he/she leaves behind short races toward the destination and actually shows the character very quickly exiting out of super speed. Check it out for yourself. Click
Budokai 3 had only horizontal lines showing where the character would go without showing him/her instantly entering/leaving super speed. And it's just worse in the Sparking! games. All Spike showed was incredibly simple vertical lines that do not hint the decided direction. I really got annoyed with this while playing Sparking! NEO because they're abusing this "teleportation" system of theirs with the cutscenes. (Yeah, that's right! ALL teleportation scenes look really bad and plain).
My point: It's super speed, not teleportion! And which game got the best depiction of super speed?! Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu! Followed by Shin Budokai. Hint hint: Dimps should make a 3D Budokai game. Their Shin Budokai already looks pretty close to 3D with the aura-rush system.

Share your thoughts. Should they keep using the word "teleportation"?
