Have there been any canon depictions of tailed Super Saiyans?
I remember that some Super Saiyans were portrayed with golden tails (GT mostly), while other times they had regular brown tails. Is there anything available that suggests one portrayal is more accurate than the other?

What's with people and their overly obsession with "canon"?
Anyway, no accuracy. It seems to be purely a design choice of whoever is in charge. Goku's tail only gets golden as a Super Saiyan 3. If we apply some logic, the tail should get golden no matter what, especially now that we know Nappa's goatee also changes when he transforms.
Everyone retains brown tail in the games, and Bardock appears with a golden tail in this poster.

I don't keep up with Dragon Ball Legends, but it appears we have an exception to what I said, then. And his tail gets red in Super Saiyan God too.
