Crunchyroll to stream Dragon Ball Z movies & Super Broly in North & Latin America, Oceania, UK, Ireland, Africa & Europe

I'm kinda surprised it took this long, but it's nice to know I'll have a convenient way to recommend the movies to people who are hesitant about purchasing the home releases.

Some things to note:
  • Battle of Gods is somehow missing
  • No original Dragon Ball movies
  • Super Hero's absence is understandable because the Blu-Ray has just come out, literally the last week in the UK and Ireland
    • Speaking of us in the British Isles, only Resurrection F and Super Broly will be streamed here, and only on July 6
    • Battle of Gods and Resurrection F previously streamed here on Netflix from December 15, 2017 until the same date in 2021 with the dub and sub
    • Super Broly was also available on Netflix from November 13, 2019 until February 13, 2021, although it was sub-only
  • All movies except Resurrection F and Super Broly are sub-only
    • In the case of the UK and Ireland that begs the question where the streaming rights for Funimation's dub sit
  • German-speaking European countries are listed for July 6, this will presumably include Germany itself, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Liechtenstein
  • French-speaking European countries are listed for July 6, this will presumably include France itself, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, Switzerland and maybe the Netherlands

It's nice too see the old Z movies being streamed here. It's a shame it's sub only, but it's a step in the right direction.

I wonder which master they'll use. The double features seem most likely, although they have an issue with the Japanese audio quality sounding dreadful for several of the later movies. I rewatched the movies in Japanese last year, and ended up switching to the old singles, because the audio on the double features was muffled to the point of being unlistenable.

It would be nice to see the DB/Z/GT/Kai series make an appearance on Crunchyroll at some point.

It's a weird situation with them not being able to use dubs on there. They merged with the company that produced said dubs. I've been wanting to continue One Piece as I gave up collecting the boxsets, but that's also sub only on Crunchyroll.

I'm just gonna stick with the Dragon Box versions of the original movies.

My only gripe is that the audio for the movies on the Dragon Box, though crisp and clean sounding, doesn't sound as good as the laserdisc audio. However, the biggest problem with the laserdisc is that the text for the end credits, for whatever reason is missing for some of the movies. I know this from looking at the laserdisc print of DBZ Movie 3 on the Internet Archives.

If anybody knows where I can find the laserdisc audio for all 14 movies that were released on that format to properly sync with the Dragon Box footage, I would greatly appreciate it.

Well in the UK it will just be Resurrection F and Broly, which are coming in July. Its nothing new because they were on Netflix before, but hopefully the rest of the movies will come. Still good for people that don't own the movies and missed them on Sky Cinema and Netflix.

I would be shocked if it was anything other than the Double Features. India has started to use the TOEI remasters for some airings, and I think France and select European countries have released them, but Crunchyroll haven't shown any interest yet.

I believe the Wrath of the Dragon DVD single has a great mono track. Would need to check my Double Features again as I don't recall having any major issues, although I'm not an audio expert.

I say they will come eventually.

Definitely weird, but it goes to show physical media will always have a place as we've seen Disney+ remove some content recently, meaning content is never safe, even if the streamer in question has the rights. I don't blame you with One Piece, I only have the first 2 collections and all the movies released here (don't have Red yet but plan to get it) but will need to figure out how I'll store them all when I get around to collecting more of the boxsets.

The Dragon Box movies are great from what I've seen yes. Sad they never got localised.
