That's great news. I hope if this sells well it will lead to the English Full Colours being continued.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Great. Glenat, with their own horrible name translations.
Re: Glenat to release Dragon Ball full color in 2024
Hope they can tweak the color a bit; the original black and white contrast is terrible. Even just applying a filter would make it look so much better. Also, if it's possible, I'd love to see those 3 missing cover pages restored. Just mentioning it; there might not be too many folks here who pay close attention to comic book details.
Don't look at people through a scouter.

You've done your research badly. That's the first translation. It's been redone and the new translation even has Bulma says "p'tit Son" which is an awesome translation of Son-kun.Jord wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:32 amI remember their DB manga's having weird names such as Sangoku and something like "Genius Turtle" for Kame sennin to name a few.
Re: Glenat to release Dragon Ball full color in 2024
This was before even year 2000.
It's been a LONG time since it was fully retranslated, and expertly so.
Not only the translator has been put in charge of many iconic manga releases due to her amazing job, but she was a long-time DB fan even before being put in charge of the retranslation (being even the one who pointed out to the company that it needed a faithful retranslation), knowing the universe and being able to completely justify all of her translation choices in details and with a lot of thought about each choice, whether it comes to accuracy or coherency.
Keep in mind that nowadays, the French translation of the various DB books is undoubtedly among the best and most reliable in the world, as she is in charge of all of them (guide books, Anime Comics, spin-offs, etc).
So this news about the Full Color Edition in France really ought to make people envious, with a near-perfect translation, fully colored Kanzenban "Perfect Edition" size, volumes being available two by two and a release that will very probably keep going to the end (DB releases always do in our country).
We might have treated Dragon Ball terribly in the past, but nowadays, France really knows how to take care of the franchise!

Whereas the US license holder side isn't even interested in fixing anything at all.

I was only familiar with the first translation, which even crept in the games. (Butoden 1 called Piccolo Daimao "Satan" I believe)sangofe wrote: Tue Sep 19, 2023 11:11 amYou've done your research badly. That's the first translation. After that first translation I didnt bother with Glenat anymore so I wasnt aware of new translations. Glad to hear they stepped up.
