Dragon Ball Z Faulconer Prod. Score + Japanese Dub

Post by LucinaFailure » Fri May 31, 2024 1:20 am

Intro:

I love Dragon Ball Z. I am a fan of the Japanese dub, as that is the way I think most anime should be experienced. When I learned that the English dub having a replacement score, at first I was opposed to idea, but when I took a listen to soundtrack I actually ended up really liking the songs. But I still dislike the English dub, as I don't like non-original language dubs. I then began to wish for a version with Japanese vocals but with the Faulconer Prod. Score. One thing leads to another, and I ended up creating that very version!

About The Process:

First, let's talk about getting the Faulconer Prod. Score Isolated from each episode:

I tried following this guide from Akash Patel https://www.facebook.com/groups/3191295 ... 1650472409
I ended up failing around step 10, but thankfully every extractable episode isolated can be found in this mega drive https://mega.nz/folder/bosHkKzK#9W-3GYafJuAwEojKr7a_7Q
I then take these and sync them up to the Dragon Box.
Also, these are usually quite loud compared to normal, so I always lower them to match their volume in the English dub

Second, SFX

The guide from before actually includes steps on how to extract SFX.
  • take the 5.1 English dub + Kikuchi Score
  • remove the .1 subwoofer track and the center track
  • Make the first two tracks into a stereo track (1st is left, 2nd is right)
  • Make the last two tracks into a stereo track (1st is left, 2nd is right)
  • Invert the one made from the last two
  • Compare the volume difference between two music only parts
  • amplify the inverted one to match
  • Double check it for english dub leaks and remove as best you can.

Lastly, Vocals

The best audio of JP dragon ball is the broadcast audio, which can be found here https://archive.org/details/dbz-japanes ... Mirolo-HKB
I used UVR 5 to extract the vocals when Japanese music was playing https://ultimatevocalremover.com/
I used the models as suggested in this GitHub discussion https://github.com/Anjok07/ultimatevoca ... ssions/605

Finally, I edited it all together

I always use the orignal JP broadcast audio for both vocals and SFX when no music is playing, as it pointless to do otherwise.
when music is playing, I swap to the AI Extracted Vocals and the SFX I extracted myself. You have to really pay attention and double check for times when either the SFX have some of the english dub in them, or the AI vocals have Kikuchi Music in them, and do your best to edit it out without harming the vocals themselves. It's not always perfect, and every episode will have at least some minor leaks

My Results So Far:

I am releasing this project as I have done every doable episode from the Frieza saga, leaving 15ish episodes rescored
Episode 95 is only one scene, because the Faulconer Score couldn't be extracted, but I could not leave Goku's SSJ Transformation out to dry, So I used the Album Track to rescore the iconic scene.

You can download the audio tracks here! Sorry but earlier episodes (other than 71 and 72 which I had to redo) will suck more as I was less experienced when I made them, as opposed to later episodes.

You put a lot of work in this. InternetArchive is down, but thank you nonetheless.
I have a Dragon Ball: I have an automated recommendation servers:
