Do you think Goku now prefers Vegeta being on par with him?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Do you think Goku now prefers Vegeta being on par with him?

Between constantly surpassing Vegeta during the Z(and GT, if it counts) days and remaining in a constant stalemate with him in DBS, which do you think Goku prefers? Does Goku find a better challenge against a rival that he isn't able to stay ahead of for long, or finding ways to greatly surpass his rival which encourages said-rival to try a lot harder to surpass him? I'm honestly not even sure, Goku doesn't seem to give enough of an obvious answer to me.

Goku would probably be happy if Vegeta were stronger than him, so that he would have a challenge to look forward to. At least, that’s a Goku’s trademark that is widely pushed in Super era.

Goku never really much cared for the "rivalry" post Saiyan arc. In the Freeza arc, Vegeta was a reluctant ally when he wasn't actively being a nuisance, in the Cell and Boo arcs, Goku was so far above Vegeta that he regarded their rivalry almost as meaningless or bygone. Until Super, it was almost entirely a one-sided interest.

I do think Goku prefers it this way, to have someone who keeps pushing him and someone he can test himself against at full power.
