Stylized pillarboxing or simple black bars?

Post by TechExpert2021 » Fri Aug 02, 2024 8:37 pm

I know pillar boxing, especially black bars, has been discussed before, but stylized pillar boxing is rarely or never talked about here (I think?).

Anyway, which type of pillar boxing do you prefer for future home video releases of 4:3 DB anime material? Stylized or simple black bars?

Simple black bar. Stylized is distracting

Black bars. Looking to experience the show and don't want ugly stuff distracting me on the sides. Never a fan of JP broadcasts that add that nonsense.

I prefer regular black bars. I've never seen stylized borders for a 4:3 anime before, but whenever I see them in game collections, they always look distracting.

Hate stylized, they take me away from the actual footage.

Vortexx had stylized pillarboxing, but they were just 2 bars that said "Vortexx". Hardly distracting.

Canal 5 in Mexico used a stylized pillarbox in its GT broadcasts.

That reminds me, Telefuturo did too with their OG DB broadcasts. Z and GT just are cut like in the Orange Bricks and so is GT on La Tele.
