4 Supreme Kais and a Grand Supreme Kai *

This is one plot point I'd actually like to see explained.

Does it need an explanation? The Universe is a vast place, it makes sense to have five Kaioshins.

I would very much like an explanation as to why they were never replaced and why the other Universes only have one when it should have been five as well.

"In training" is my headcanon and works.

Zamasu was in training. Maybe the Grand Supreme Kai had 4 potential trainees, and it just worked out for Shin that everyone but him got absorbed.

It helps too if you stop thinking about things having an explicit hierarchy and purpose. The concept of the afterlife in a lot of Eastern philosophy is that of a more bureaucratic existence with a lot of stations and titles, but just no suffering like we experience on Earth.

I doubt it. That kind of thing seems in line with what Toriyama himself would try to explain, yet he completely ignored/forgot about it during Super. There is no mention of more Kaioshins in other universes, or surprise from Kaioshin at them not existing. We don't even know if all of them were connected to Beerus, if Old Kaioshin is the one connected, or if it's somehow just Shin. Even Toyotaro had to be vague about it in the Future Trunks flashback.

Surely Zamasu would need to know how many Kaioshin exist exactly in order for his plan to succeed.

I wouldn't think too much about them, maybe they just happened to be all in-training...which doesn't really work with Zamasu being the only one under Gowasu's care and the later never being called a Grand Kaioshin (the manga even made a point of most characters regarding him as Kaioshin rather than Gowasu, which in retrospect makes Shin's name very, very stupid).
English is not my first language. Please excuse my gramatical mistakes.

Beerus and the entire Multiverse did not exist then.
And honestly, I'm pretty damn sure Toriyama forgot about the other Kaioshins.

I don't see why they wouldn't.

This is exposition the show.

you dont know how many kai's there are in other universes because its only the supreme one was present in the TOP. if zamasu was there besides gowasu then its safe to assume every universe have a couple of them

I don't think that will be addressed (or perhaps it will, if it touches upon Shin's departure from Dai Makai), but I do want to know if Shin's powers are Glind powers or if they come with the job. I think it's a bit of both since Trunks learned how to heal, but Glinds should have some special ability for them to be apt for the role.

Also, how the fuck does one become a god while being a demon? who hires them? are Glinds perpetuating themselves in positions of power? is Shin's planet one they built for themselves? did they take the Trees too when they migrated to the multiverse or are they still born on Dai Makai?

I guess Glinds are the superior race thus all of them becoming gods, I mean it's not like U9 has a Namekian or Yadratian Kaioshin. They are all Glinds.

I mean... the Omni King. He hires them. He also jokes about stripping Beerus and Champa of their position as gods at one point, if I recall.

Beerus shouldn't be connected to Shin if any of this made sense. He should be connected to the one and only, Fat Buu, which would make him the luckiest God of Destruction.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
