Dragon Ball Z : Battle of Gods Returns To Theatres - Countries and Release Dates

Post by Dragon Ball Ireland » Tue Nov 26, 2024 12:15 pm

It's official. The 14th Dragon Ball Z movie Kami to Kami, or Battle of Gods is returning to theatres in 2025.

From what I gather the company in question (Piece of Magic Entertainment) are exclusively a theatrical distributor and they regularly put on limited screenings for concert recordings and Japanese films into 20-30 countries across Europe and the Baltics. I will update as I hear about what countries are added.

My source says Studio PDK creates Polish subs for Piece of Magic and they're reportedly trying to convince them to order a Polish dub but haven't had any success yet. The director of the recent Polish dubs Dariusz Kosmowski retired from the business about a month ago but hopefully someone new steps up to the plate. It would be nice to see Battle of Gods get some new dubs too.

Number of confirmed countries so far: 26 Miscellaneous Info
  • Much like Dragon Ball Kai since 2023 this appears to be a second international run of distribution for the movie where it is being released in territories that didn't receive it during the original run (noted by Tian)
  • For reference the movie was shown in these territories by date during its original release:
  • Latvia and Poland use the same clip in their trailers (noted by TheRed259)
  • Promo on the Norwegian movie theatre site uses the English dub (noted by sangofe)

Interesting! By the way, it will be the Extended Cut of the movie and also, March 1 is the day that Akira Toriyama passed away.

That sounds great, nice way to honour the creator. This will also likely be the first time various European countries received screenings for Battle of Gods in theatres, as according to Box Office Mojo only Spain and Italy did back in 2014. That's not including the exclusive screenings at Scotland Loves Anime and Nom Con in Dublin, Ireland (the latter of which I attended).

Can't they used the revised poster at least? With Ultimate Gohan instead of SSJ?

Wow English screenings?

When I read that I wondered if there was any chance of UK and Irish screenings, but then I realized the Netherlands has always received English dubbed Dragon Ball (with the exception of Kai streaming subbed only on GoAnime recently) so probably not.

It would be nice though. We never got a theatrical run for Battle of Gods, only an exclusive con surprise screening in Dublin and once at Scotland Loves Anime.

I don't think it ever was released in theaters in France.

It had been shown more than once at the Grand Rex.

Right, then it was very limited. It wasn't shown all over France like the other movies were, that's for sure.

Your link doesn't work for me, but I found it on the Pathé website. I currently live in the Netherlands, so I wonder if my city's theater will play it...

Would be delightful if it's shown in Norway.

It looks like it will be playing in Groningen if thats near you?

No Irish screenings yet as far as I can tell, but I've reached out to the Light House Cinema and IFI alerting them to this, so fingers crossed.

UPDATE : One of the theatres I asked responded to me. Looks like the Dublin International Film Festival could complicate things but nice to know they took note of my enthusiasm for it.

Great to know that Toei is giving this film a second international run like Kai.

Although, I can't really expect new dubs (like Czech) coming from it because these new releases seem to be very likely subbed.
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)

Dragon Ball Ireland, can you make a list of all the confirmed countries in the first post?

I know, right? Battle of Gods got screenings in plenty of countries during its initial release, but it was still early days for Dragon Ball on the big screen for most of the world. Resurrection F, Broly and Super Hero then of course showed it can be brought to far more theatres and be even more successful.

Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway and Slovakia also all seem to be getting their first ever screenings of the movie, which makes this extra special.

Yeah, the only new dubs for Battle of Gods I'm aware of are the recent Indian dubs, but having 5 dubs in regional languages is now par for the course when it comes to Dragon Ball on Cartoon Network India.
