Can any comprehend this stupidity?

Post by Duo » Sat Jan 20, 2007 4:36 pm

I used to be an Admin at a huge Dragonball message board, www.mfgforums.com, home to countless fools. During all this, lots of people added me to their AIM buddy lists. Even though I've long retired, I still get crap like this from time to time...

(3:11:26 PM) duhdude20: hello
(3:11:30 PM) Phil: Hey.
(3:12:32 PM) duhdude20: are you liek talking to a million people?
(3:12:53 PM) Phil: 3 people, yourself included.
(3:12:57 PM) duhdude20: ok
(3:14:05 PM) duhdude20: you wanna know where the broly movie fits into the timeline
(3:15:07 PM) Phil: I know where it does, mostly because it, uh, doesn't.
(3:15:17 PM) duhdude20: no it does
(3:15:23 PM) Phil: No, it doesn't.
(3:15:33 PM) duhdude20: movie 8 fits before 3 days of the cell games
(3:15:34 PM) Phil: It couldn't occur in the main storyline.
(3:15:53 PM) Phil: During those 3 days Goku was finding Dragon Ball's and Gohan was chilin' with Dende while everyone else trained. End.
(3:16:26 PM) duhdude20: i said three days they didn't show day 4 or 5 it just skipped to the cell games
(3:16:49 PM) Phil: But it's stated what they were doing.
(3:16:56 PM) Phil: Hence, impossible.
(3:17:05 PM) Phil: Plus there's no reason for Goku and Gohan to drop out of the Super Saiyan state
(3:17:14 PM) Phil: plus Cell wasn't even mentioned, but was a big fricken deal at the time
(3:17:22 PM) duhdude20: broly was a bigger deal
(3:17:26 PM) duhdude20: but
(3:17:30 PM) Phil: People don't just get up and go to the other side of the galaxy for kicks when the planets about to be destroyed
(3:17:40 PM) Phil: None of the movies fit, they weren't meant to.
(3:17:43 PM) Phil: They weren't made to.
(3:17:47 PM) duhdude20: he said he would destroy the planet
(3:17:51 PM) duhdude20: if they lost
(3:17:51 PM) Phil: No one, during the development, ever intended for them to fit.
(3:17:53 PM) Phil: At all.
(3:18:08 PM) duhdude20: oh well broly still kicks major ass
(3:18:40 PM) Phil: If you enjoy mindless, plotless, screaming idiocy, then Broli definately wins.
(3:18:55 PM) duhdude20: and power
(3:19:45 PM) Phil: Well, as long as no Super Saiyan Level 2's or higher are fighting him, then he wins at power.
(3:19:47 PM) duhdude20: only super Saiyan 4 surpasses
(3:20:00 PM) Phil: But most Boo arc characters could waste the numbskull.
(3:20:32 PM) duhdude20: he's even with super saiyan three
(3:21:57 PM) Phil: Sure, buddy.
(3:22:13 PM) Phil: I guess if you ignore LOGIC and FACT then yes, he sure is even with Super Saiyan 3.
(3:22:21 PM) Phil: Tom Cruise is God, too.
(3:22:49 PM) duhdude20: no the facts say he keeps on powering up
(3:23:20 PM) duhdude20: a super saiyan 4 would like >>>>>>own him
(3:23:33 PM) Phil: Do you know what "Manga" is?
(3:23:39 PM) duhdude20: yes
(3:23:47 PM) duhdude20: but i only read the naruto manga
(3:23:51 PM) Phil: Why are you wasting my time with mindless dribble about such irrelevent crap?
(3:23:53 PM) duhdude20: because of filler
(3:24:00 PM) Phil: I. Don't. Care.
(3:24:09 PM) Phil: Proving the truth to you over and over will accomplish nothing.

Sigh...at least that shut him up.

I feel sorry for Mike, because it seems as though he deals with this at least once a week. My sanity was cut in half just be this short exchange. Mike is a man of great patience to have not killed himself and all his loved ones because of this crap.

I'm sorry, that's really awful. You would think that now that everything Dragon Ball anime and manga related has come out, these stupid misconceptions would cease. But apparently not. :?

The power of fandom is both greater than the power of cheese and of beef. That's a heck of an accomplishment. With that said, many people disregard logic even in the most basic of forms when it comes to two guys pounding on each other. Whomever seems to be drawing the most blood is the 'coolest' to adolescent boys, and that's a major demographic of DBZ viewers.

It's also the reason I can't understand rabid character worship- why do that when you could do better things? Learning HTML, taking a walk outside, enjoying DBZ as more than who has the bigger muscles...all of these actions are better in comparison.
I'm going to put the debates to a rest- Broli is not the Legendary Super Saiyan. Goku is not the Legendary Super Saiyan. I'm the Legendary Super Saiyan. And while I'm at it, I'm Batman too.

That's...odd. I wonder why this person assumed you needed to be educated on the improbable movie timelines at random; was this an issue that came up on the forum you moderated that spilled over?

Just to make a point about this, I'm going to do a fanart of Super Perfect Cell just completely destroying Broli. Like, holding him by the throat, or something. Look for it soon.

There wouldn't be much of a debate in terms of their actual battle power. By looking at when the movies would take place, you can see which villian is stronger than another. Of course this isn't always true but that sort of discussion is fit for another thread..By the way, Duo didn't mention the part about making duhdude20 cry himself to sleep. But again, fit for another thread..

Well, Super Perfect Cell could easily kick Broli's @$$. But from what I've conjectured, Non-super Perfect Cell would at least get a good challenge out of him (Broli was smacking around all the heroes in their post-RoSaT state, after all)

But still, Cell's better. No doubt 'bout it.

I haven't been active there in ages, so I have no idea where this came from. All my DBZ discussion occurs here and occasinoally on AIM.

Wow, I didn't know you were no longer a mod on MFG Duo. Well I haven't been there in ages myself. They probably lost about 50% of their intelligence quotient with you gone. >>

As for that fan.....well I have friends that can see to it he's never heard from again if you wish.
Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Broly is far above Majin Buu arc characters, after all, the guy destroyed an entire galaxy.

While I can relate to the pain of having to deal with some less educated DB fans, this whole topic reeks of elitism. No offense or anything.

Yeah, but one punch from Goku killed him.

Ha, I know, I was kidding.

The topic creator's post just sort of irks me though, not everyone in the world has all-encompassing knowledge of Dragon Ball like a lot of people here seem to, over 500 episodes of animation, 42 volumes of manga, and 17 feature films make it difficult for even the most hardcore fans to really be able to claim this.

The guy wanted to talk DBZ and rather than correct him politely, he berated him and then undermined his intelligence. I suppose it's cases like these why the more hardcore Z fans are usually described as smarmy and elitist. "Oh my gosh, DB fans that aren't on this board are so dumb, look at how dumb they are." *sigh*

Sorry, I'm not trying to pick a fight here, and I can understand that you're jaded if you're bombarded with that kind of stuff all the time, it's just generally this is the kind of stuff that really burns my goat:
(3:23:33 PM) Phil: Do you know what "Manga" is?
What is this even supposed to supposed to imply? Broly isn't in the manga.

Think about the world we could create if hardcore fans and dubbies/broly enthusiasts/etc got along..
