Episode #0061! VegettoEX, Meri, and Julian discuss FUNimation's lies... err... "cover-ups"... over the years regarding their DragonBall productions. From insisting they were not allowed to release a subtitled version, the DBGT "Lost Episodes", and so much more, FUNimation's been quite the "funny" company. February's releases, your e-mails, and our "Cross Epoch" giveaway contest round out the episode! Referenced sites: Whee! Go ahead and grab it. Big thanks to godofchaos for hosting the asinine *sixty-one* episodes, now.

Julian's back! Wii! Good times, this episode. Coming off of all the recent "remastered" news, it only seemed appropriate to take a look back at some of the silly cover-ups FUNimation's done in the past. I'm sure we glazed over a few, so feel free to add your own two-cents. Or three-cents. Possibly four. But certainly not five.

w0rd.

Ah, FUNi and its screwups. This episode was kinda average for me, but it was still enjoyable. Julian's in the showbiz, eh? Good luck with that :).

I totally deserve creative credit on this week's show, since I think I brought up the whole "We can't make a subtitled version lol!"-crapfest that Gen tried to sell us about a decade ago when I was on ;p

"HAHA! See! I got it right this time!"

I lol'd. Great podcast, the entire topic was hilarious. I can't wait for the JUS review!

Also, new Ani-manga? Never seen any listings/info/images about that. However, Julian knows his stuff.

Damn! I didn't win the Crossover! I never win anything! *Cries*

Anyways... good podcast, I like hearing about how much FUNi screws up for some reason

And I'm starting to think you guys should put a PG-13 label on these things. :P

I'm sure this doesn't need to be mentioned, but almost all companies have spit in the faces of buyers for years. I could write a sizable essay about how Sega, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony have screwed consumers over in the past. It's pretty bad, but that's the way things work.

Still, it's a good topic for discussion.

Great show, I loved the discussion on FUNimation's bizarre decisions regarding Dragon Ball.

Something that drives me nuts about FUNimation's DVDs is that many of the ones I've bought have been damaged. I bought the Dragon Ball movie box, and the 10 anniversary movie DVD had a big huge dent in it, making it a useless piece of plastic. I also got part 2 of the Piccolo Jr. arc, and the case was broken inside, making the DVD pop out at me whenever I opened it, and it was scratched up to boot. I also got a GT box, and one of the cases inside had a mean crack in it. I know that's small beans, but it's still really annoying to buy damaged goods. Has anyone else had problems with this, or do I just have bad luck when I buy DVDs?

I've had stuff like that happen on either one of two occasions: pre-order, and layaway.

Wal-mart tends to through shit around when it falls into those categories

What's funny is none of these were DVDs I bought online, I picked them all up at the store. If these were from a website I might be more forgiving...

Hey, cool, I won the contest! That's awesome, I was just looking for the issue with Cross Epoch at Kinokuniya's and I didn't see it, so I was hoping I'd win the contest but didn't think it was too likely (especially when you read the number, I didn't think I'd sent my entry early enough for it to be #34) ^_^ Sweet....

And it's been awhile since I've seen This is Otakudom. I got a copy on disc at SakuraCon 2003, but that disc obviously didn't have all the cool extras that the new one does. Looking forward to watching it again.

Thanks for your awesome podcast with awesome contests and awesome prizes ^_^

Ahhh Episode 61 can remember it like it was yesterday...

Anyway, I love this one always good to hear my beloved trio going on about the li-uh- COVER UP'S Funimation has produced over the years. And one last thing. Good to have Julian back but was it really neccesary to have his belching at the end? xD

Good job, folks! Again, I laugh and I learn.

I look forward to hearing your review of Harukanaru Goku Densetsu, since you recently preordered it. I also wonder, Mike, if you're going to buy the US release, since it'll have all of the text translated? I know I'm probably going to get the US release myself, since I'm getting a new DS Lite in coming months.

I also agree that while FUNi does some weird (and sometimes downright despicable) stuff when it comes to Dragon Ball, I have to give them credit for making demand for the shows so high.

Adios, and see yas next week. :D

The release date on EB/Gamestop for Harukanaru Densetsu has been changed to 5/01/07. Weird.
