Is It Just Me or Does Cabba Suck?

Girls, I can remember next to nothing about this character other than the fact that he wants to date Vegeta really bad and I gotta say, he sure does appear in a lot of fan art! I'm curious why people like him? He's such a third wheel in the Caulifla/Kale dynamic, too, so despite knowing both of them longer than Vegeta it feels like he has next to no chemistry with them.

So, like, why do people like Cabba?

I do think it's a missed opportunity they didn't explore the mentor-student dynamic a bit more, maybe even contrast Cabba with present Trunks in an arc so both characters have something interesting going on.

Like Zephyr said, the best thing we got of Cabba was a potentially cool new dynamic for Vegeta in the role of mentor, which never really went anywhere, so we're left with Cabba being nothing more than a wasted device

His design also doesn't do him many favors. I don't hate it, but it's so bland, he has Gohan's hair (his worst hairstyle as well imo), and a physique that the majority of the fandom despises

I haven't seen many people going crazy for him tbh, but if he has fans I would guess it's simply due to being another Saiyan from another universe, that in and of itself is pretty cool conceptually because of where it could lead. The differences between U6 and U7 Saiyans, Planet Sadala, a lot of interesting stuff could have been explored

Too bad that again, it never went anywhere....

This would have been some good shit. Like, at least acknowledge that Cabba kind of fulfills the role one might expect of Present Trunks! Or go deeper in the Salada stuff! He's kind of just there and doesn't have the charisma that, say, Caulifla has, or even the relationship dynamic that Kale has with Caulifla. I'm not sure what his beginning, middle and end are.

I gotta finish my rewatch of the Tournament of Power. >_<

Cabba is one of the many unfortunate characters which the writers stop caring to keep relevant after a couple of appearances.

At first, he was a nice introduction to the existence of Saiyans in another universe and brought up some hype with the mention of Planet Sadala and its king.

By the pre-ToP arc, he lost relevance when Kale & Caulifla showed up and turned into a secondary character in his own planet and universe.

And then at the ToP arc, he sadly just served as a mere plot device for Vegeta to get the Super Saiyan Blue Evolution form.

He's the only representative of the Universe 6's Sadala. Caulifla and Kale are criminals hunted by the king. Only Cabba represents a whole new Saiyan kingdom we didn't know existed. His armor for example gives insight into ancient Saiyan armor from before they were incorporated into Freeza Force.

If Vegeta will ever meet the king of Planet Sadala, Cabba will be his guide in that kingdom, not a bunch of criminals.

He's also memorable because of all the Reddit memes saying that he's stronger than SSJ4 Gogeta via scaling.

Cabba design is really bad, how can he train but yet has no muscles at all. Even when he transforms he doesn't gain visible muscles at all.

Imagine if Cabba gains SSG, how would he look like.

I mean, for me, the joke is more so that the weirdest people always need to take umbridge with queer theory. That being said, I think you can interpret the bond between Vegeta and Cabba as queer as much as you can a mentorship, because those things are not mutually exclusive. Young man really looks up to a more experienced man? Sure, let's call it queer. Who's going to stop us, the fun police? Two truths can be true at the same time, et cetera, et cetera.

Besides, we've already seen Vegeta, Goku, Gohan, and others lean toward the "good" side, proving that there's more to the Saiyans of this universe than just being "evil."

The difference is that their Saiyan culture both still exists and is apparently different from the Universe 7 culture, from what we've seen. Further more, two of the three introduced characters wound up receiving actual focus and the barest of bare minimum character development that allowed for them to 1) become endeared to the fandom in general 2) give us female characters who aren't obsessed with pleasing men and 3) Gave us a stealth Sapphic relationship.

Now, they just need to keep adding more to them.

Everyone is allowed to have their own interpretations and headcanon.

If Julie sees them as a queer couple, then no problem. If the other guy sees them as a fraternal bond, then no problem and if yet another guy seems them as a honorary father-son relationship, then no problem.

I personally see their relationship as Vegeta's another living pure connection with his Saiyan culture (other than Goku and Broly) and Cabba's opportunity to learn more secrets of the Saiyan race like the Super Saiyan form. It's a benefical relationship for both.

That's pretty much what I got out of it as well. Back when Super was going I used to see speculation that they might do an arc where Vegeta and Goku travel to Universe 6 to visit and train the new Saiyans, and I thought that sounded like a wonderful idea for an arc. Now we kind of see Goku step into a teaching role when it comes to Goten iann Trunks in the Buu arc of Z, but a Universe 6 arc could be an opportunity to bring back THAT Goku as well as getting a different side of a paternal and friendly Vegeta.

I didn't get a ton out of Caulifla or Kale either if we're being honest, but I really do like Kefla because I think she was really cool in the fight she was in. The Gigantic Burst attack looks really sick and I love playing as her in Dragon Ball FighterZ.

I think the politeness could've been handled better. I understand that trait was given to him to make him stand out from most of Universe 7's warrior-minded and battle ready saiyans but I feel it was too much.

Goku, Kuririn, Yamcha, Chiaotzu and Tenshinhan respects Master Roshi as a mentor, they respect him so much that they wear his uniform. That doesn't mean they want to date Master Roshi at all. The same with the other student and mentor relationship, it doesn't mean that they want to date with each other.

Cabba hasn't shown any interest in dating Vegeta, he hasn't shown to have any crush at all.
