The Other U7 Supreme Kais as Refugees

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

The Other U7 Supreme Kais as Refugees

Post by Almighty Majin » Thu Nov 27, 2025 9:40 pm

With the reveal of multiple universes existing, we saw how each of those universes had their own gods just like Universe 7. What was odd however, was the fact that Universe 7 had so many Supreme Kais at once at some point compared to the other universes. Why was this the case? Of course, out of universe it is likely that the other Kais were simply not taken into account (until Daikaioshin returned in the Moro arc). In universe, this still does not make as much sense.

What we do know however, is that there were 6 other universes that existed and they were erased by Zeno. What if the other Kais (North, West, and South) were simply refugees from the erased universes? This does not account for the other 3, but it could make sense. The Old Kai was sealed away by Beerus, millions of years pass and Nahare is selected to replace him. Universes 13-18 are erased by Zeno as well, leaving their gods effectively homeless. Daikaioshin sees this as a perfect opportunity to train Nahare and temporarily house these Kaioshin, it is a win-win situation. Unfortunately, beings like Moro and Bibidi (with Buu) would compromise this situation leading to what we have now, but it seems like perhaps the Daikaioshin may have had a plan.

As for the other unaccounted Kaioshin, the missing Gods of Destruction, and their Angels? Honestly who knows. Maybe the Grand Priest got involved in dealing with that once word got to him that the Daikaioshin was gone forever after being consumed by Buu and sealed away. This is a piece of lore that has not really been expanded upon and probably never will, but it is nice to at least give it some proper meaning within the world of DB.

I really like the creativity behind this theory! The idea that the erased Universes (13-18) didn't just vanish but left behind a "diaspora" of gods adds a tragic layer to the lore.

However, for this to fit with Dragon Ball Super canon, we need to address the Life Link problem. If these Kais were fully integrated and linked to Beerus, he should have been in serious trouble when Buu went on his rampage.

Here is a proposal to make your theory work perfectly:

What if the Universe 7 system was unique specifically to accommodate these refugees?

The Life Link was Exclusive: Only the Dai Kaioshin (Grand Supreme Kai) was the original U7 Creation God linked to Beerus.

The Refugee Status: The North, West, and South Kais were indeed survivors from the erased universes. The Grand Priest might have granted them asylum in U7, stripping their original life links (since their Hakaishins were erased) but not linking them to Beerus.

The Deal: Dai Kaioshin gave them sectors to manage (North/West/South quadrants) in exchange for their help, but they remained "guests" metaphysically.

Why this makes it fit:
This actually fixes a massive plot hole in the series: Why didn't Beerus die when Buu killed the North and West Kais and absorbed the South Kai?

If we use your theory, it’s because those specific Kais were "refugees/extras" whose deaths didn't trigger the Life Link. Beerus only needed the main U7 lineage (Dai Kaioshin and eventually Shin) to survive. It turns a confusing inconsistency into a cool piece of secret history.
