"Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol" (20??) Discussion Thread

Post by JulieYBM » Sat Jan 24, 2026 10:17 pm

Woah, they're making a new Dragon Ball Super animated project? I hope the production staff has time to do something as good as Daima's animation but with better writing. I hope the staff gets announced soon!

I'm excited for this especially with how they are producing it. I'm glad they are doing it as a single arc and not an ongoing series, production quality and animation should be better and more consistent week to week. Hopefully this means the manga is starting up again too if they're going back to focusing on Super.

Actually a bit excited for this, i used to be a big Moro hater, but it has grown on me over time and now i have huge appreciation for it and it's story beats, considering how much Super's writers are able to play around with concepts (when given time) i hope we get an interesting adaptation.

The character designs look promising to say the least!
I really miss ma boy, Black :(

So, this is a sequel series finally adapting the arcs from the manga? Because I'm SO glad it's not a reboot of Super adapting the material both the anime & manga for Super have covered already. That'd be a waste of time & the manga doesn't have some of the hype moments from the anime.

Also kinda looks like they're going with Nagamine's artstyle, which will be great.

Amazed 2uper is actually happening, wish it hadn't had to have been close to a decade since, but always happy to get more Goku and Vegeta together (I don't count Daima since Vegeta was barely there even when he was present).

I hope it's fun. Less stopping to drop lore, more character moments.

2027 though--why would they announce it this early?

Well, I'm glad they're not doing a DBS remake (as much as I wouldn't have minded it) because this means I can binge Super (manga and anime) in its entirety because I've never exactly done that before. I own all of the Super anime, but I still need to watch it and read the whole manga (I pretty much know what happens in both though). And can you imagine all the cool new opening and ending songs Dragon Ball is about to get??? We're about to get a lot of new covers!!!

And within two years or so, Moro and Merus will be playable in video games with ENGLISH DUB actors!!! And I still can't get over that beautiful trailer showcasing Dragon Ball's history of baby Goku being sent to Earth to Galactic Patrol. HANS ZIMMER?!!!! WHAAAAAT?!!!!!

Nagamine was a director, not an animator or animation character designer.

I assume that the reason they're doing Moro now is specifically because they wanna adapt stuff that Toriyama personally wrote for before he died & there's not much besides the few manga-exclusive arcs after the anime ended. It makes sense outside of doing a reboot of the first 2 animes & re-adapt the manga. Then they'll do the other Super manga material after.

40th anniversary special video.

It makes sense to announce stuff in the month of the 40th anniversary of the first anime.

Meh, I'm not excited for the manga adaptation, to be honest. I wasn't a fan of Moro after he pretty much became Cell 2.0, and the Granolah arc is just terrible imo. Hopefully, it's not a 1-for-1 with the manga, and they change some stuff up. That's the only way this can get me excited. Even Granolah can be somewhat redeemable if they fix up some of the weaker plot points.

My friend just sent me this. I couldn't believe it. Dragon Ball Super is finally coming back! And it's the Moro arc. We'll finally get an expansion of this story, which I've always thought was the best in Dragon Ball Super.

WE WON! It still feels surreal after all these years waiting.

By the way, I loved the 40th anniversary trailer. Especially the parts in which they animated the original manga. And also the evolution of modern Dragon Ball projects (from BoG to now).

From what it seems, they're going to divide the manga arcs into smaller series, like Daima, instead of bringing back the original Dragon Ball Super anime. I think it's a great idea. It gives the manga more time to keep going (which I think will happen in some way) and more time for the production to work on something visually refined. Modern Dragon Ball works very well as a seasonal anime.

Haha, spoke too soon on this, I guess. But like I've said countless times over the past few weeks, I don't mind a remake, or remaster of Super's earlier arcs. It desperately needs it, especially to introduce new fans to Super leading into the new arcs. Also, all of you saying it definitely wasn't happening ended up being wrong, even if it is a remaster and not a remake. Just goes to show you need to have an open mind and wait for things to be announced, after all.

And it also means I don't have to sit through a terribly animated version of Super. I'll just wait for the remastered versions. All-in-all, Dragon Ball Super is BACK.

Well there it is, 2uper finally confirmed. So chances are the Broly Movie will be adapted and then we go to the Moro arc?

Finally, but I don't like how they ignored Toyotaro. Moro arc was written by him and Toriyama was just supervising. It's not right he gets all the credit because his name sells.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

I noticed that too. Both Moro saga and Granola saga are more Toyotaro's babies than Toriyama's. It's kind of a disservice to credit mostly Toriyama.

No, the Moro arc is its own thing (it will work as a mini series, like Daima) and is coming soon.
They will remake/remaster the original DBS anime though.

I agree. Although I think that's more true for the Moro Arc. But both were practically made as a team effort I think.

It's uncommon to announce something and give a release window this far in advance, but it's not unheard of; if you go to the TBA page on LiveChart and Ctrl + F 2027, there's a decent number of series slated for next year (and a movie called Sunny announced for 2029 for some reason  ). What's much more common is an anime being announced 1-3 years in advance, and marked as TBA until somewhere around 6-8 months before it premieres.

So, I assume we can just roll this into this thread too, but...Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. They're doing mini arcs recapping the important shit from the previously done ones with redone animation like the remaster & recut of Fishman Island of One Piece.
