Stronger or weaker after absorbing South Kaioushin?

When Kid Buu absorbs South Kaioushin and becomes Buff Buu, does his power increase or decrease?

I pretty sure it was a decrease, because even though the South Kaioshin was the most skilled fighter of the bunch, I think it actually lowered his power level....but I need backup.

Does anyone else remember correctly?

It actually did increase his power...a lot. Goku mentions when Shin Boo is transforming back to Chibi Boo and passes through the "Buff Boo" stage that his ki was actually getting bigger than smaller, but it of course decreased when he became Chibi Boo again. Otherwise Goku would stand no chance against him.

No, him transforming into "Buff Boo" for a brief moment before becoming Chibi Boo is indeed canon, as are the statements about his ki increasing.

It's not really said; Boo became much larger and muscular of course, but this doesn't always mean that there was a significant power increase. He may have just taken on a few of his characteristics and fighting techniques. I'm inclined to think that's what happened, and that Boo's power didn't change much if at all.

Except Goku and Vegeta are like "What the fuck!" when they sense Buff Buu, and "LOL" when they sense Kid Buu.

Doesn't have to be stated.

1. They were worried at Buff Buu, laughing at kid Buu.

2. After they remove the boys and Piccolo and Buu turns back to Super Buu, Goku says they'll still be killed if they try to fight him and they should fuse. But Goku turns down fusion when offered it vs. Kid Buu. Kid Buu must then be weaker than Super Buu.

I'll use some quotes.

*Inside of Shin Boo's head. Goku and Vegeta have just cut down everyone.*

Son Goku: "Yeah! He's a lot weaker! See, his ki is smaller!"

Vegeta: "Then let's blow ourselves out of here!"

Son Goku: "Wait! He's still stronger than either of us! He'll kill us if we go out like this!"

As you can see Goku was horrified at the idea of leaving Shin Boo's body not as Vegetto.

*Shin Boo is reverting back into Chibi Boo, but is passing through the "Buff Boo" transformation.*

Son Goku: "Um...Vegeta... ...isn't his ki...getting bigger?!"

Now if Goku was afraid of normal Shin Boo, he would surely be afraid of (and would lose to) someone stronger than him.

*"Buff Boo" becomes Chibi Boo.*

Vegeta: "Look at our little friend!"

Son Goku: "Yeah! we can take him!"

Now you might be thinking "but they couldn't take him," well Goku didn't know about not being able to reach full power as a SSj3. And it was stated that if he was at full power he'd "obliterate" Chibi Boo.

I haven't looked at those episodes in a few years, and I don't have the last volumes of the manga, but I remember hearing something about, Kid Buu being weaker than Super Buu, but he was pure rage and aggression without reason, thus making him more dangerous.

As far as my theory goes I believe it's impossible to decrease power with fusion, it's the same with the possible fusion with Goku and Mr. Satan, even if it went up by 1, it'd still go up. Now when South Kaio was absorbed he had a rather large ki so...

On the page where the story is told there's no distinguishing between them, just the result, which would suggest they both had part in it. There's no absolute certainty in it, though. Even if he did become stronger, it wouldn't be anything significant because we do know how pathetically weak all the Kaioshins were(Kaioshin was so amazed by how "unbelievably strong" Gohan was, so much that he believed he could pull the Z sword which none of them were near strong enough to do, and Gohan succeeded(apparently as ssj1 even)).

That's what I believe too. The power increase he got from South Kaioshin probably wasn't all that significant since South Kaioshin was defeated pretty easily.
