(Hard Question)Full grown Son Goku's TRUE HEIGHT!

There are many opinions about Goku's height. Some say 5'11", some say 6', and others say 6'2". But these are only 'guesses' and I think only Daizenshuu can truly answer to this question.

According to my search on the internet, I got a conclusion that the answer would surely be either 5 feet 7 inches(170.2cm) or 175cm. Here's the reason why I got to think so.

In the US wikipedia site, the users strongly insisted and concluded that Son Goku's height is 5'7". They said the English Daizenshuu says so. Therefore, I thought at first, 5'7" would be the answer.

However, as I searched the Japanese websites(I'm Korean and I can somewhat speak Japanese), I found an intersting thing. The Japanese wikipedia page claimed Goku's height is 175cm! Every Japanese private DB homepages I went also said Goku's height is 175cm. Not even one exception. Of course wikipedia and the all Japanese homepages could be wrong. But it is very probable that some of those Japanese wikipedia users or Japanese homepage makers too, have Japanese Daizenshuu considering DB was born in Japan and the users and DB site hosts are also greatly interested in Dragonball.

So, I became very confused. What I thought about this is that there could have been an error in translating Japanese Daizenshuu to English Daizenshuu. However, I'm not even sure the English Daizenshuu really is saying that Goku's height is 5'7" and the Japanese Daizenshuu really is saying that Goku's height is 175cm because I don't have any Daizenshuus.

Finally, I ask you of FULL GROWN SON GOKU's TRUE HEIGHT. I know everybody can guess, so I hope there will be NO GUESSES if possible.

Those of you who have or know Daizenshuu, please help me find the answer. Hope for many replies. Thank you.

In all honesty, 5'7" is rather tall for a Japanese male.

Yeah, but the way he looks in the show... it looks like he's Michael Jordan compared to other characters. I know Vegeta was short, but for the proportions to be right in comparison to Goku he'd have to be like four feet, and then we have Krillin in comparison to that. What is he, two inches? How does he reach the door knob?

I remember reading somewhere that goku is 5' 7" and vegeta is 5' 3".

Does anyone know what 5'7" is in cm? I think Goku would be about 175cm, I mean if 5'7" is 200+ cm than he would be alittle too tall...

OK, 5'7" is 170.2cm as above.

I don't know how you got over 200cm.

Here is how it goes.

5feet= 152.399995cm
7inches= 17.78 cm

152.399995+17.78=170.179995 ----> about 170.18cm.

Is there any information on which number Daizenshuu the supposed height came from? I don't recall seeing any section for character heights in there, but if I knew which volume to look in I could probably find it.

Somehow I got information that Goku's height is in the first or the seventh book. But I'm not sure.

There was this one image I saw once that was real cool and would be perfect for this. It put Goku up against all the villains in a police-esque lineup so you could compare their heights.

Fat Buu was tall as hell. Seriously. You have no idea 'til you see how he towers over everybody.

I've always thought that Goku was around 5'10" or 5'11". He's the tallest one in the group, right under Tien and Piccolo, who both should be well over 6", or so I thought (Piccolo is up there!). Don't know who's taller between him and teen Gohan though. Plus, whenever Goku was out in public, he looked like he was taller than most pedestrians. Ah, who knows. Goku is a saiyan, not a human.

Grandmaster J, nice opinion. However, you do know that Yamcha is way taller than Goku right?(See DBZ episode208, right before Goten runs and hugs Goku. Although Yamcha is behind Goku, Yamcha is surely taller than Goku, and the ground is concrete which means 'plain'. ) But in the Androids saga(before Cell) Android#19 figures out that the height of Yamcha is 6'. Therefore, you will understand Goku's height is certainly shorter than 5'10" or 5'11" if you check out the episode208(in the same episode, you can again make sure Goku is smaller than Yamcha by comparing Ox King and the two, or Chichi and the two, and so on.)

Well, character proportions weren't very consistent when it came to 'Z'. At the end of DragonBall, Tenshinhan seemed to be Piccolo's height if not taller. We later see Vegeta would appears to be Gohan's height during the Cell Arc, but he appears to get bigger and bigger throughout the series (was it because Nappa made everyone around him seem so small). As for Goku's height, 5'10 sounds about right. I mean, I'm 6'2 and isn't the average height like 5'10 or something?(Side note: I'm taller than the hero of the story..!)

Let's not forgot it's goku's spikey hair that makes him look a feet taller

When Dr Gero is looking through Yamcha's statistics you can see Yamcha is 1.83m which makes sense because he's a head taller than Son-kun.

5'7 seems reasonable, as Pieter said, the hair adds quite a bit of height. What confuses me is why Goku was only knee high to Bulma when he was 13 and she was 16.

He reaches belly height most of the time. Maybe you're referring to some shots where it looks different but don't let that confuse you, I've seen terrible shots in the anime where Gregory is the size of bubbles.
