Dub or Japanese Music for Season 1?
Do you prefer to watch season 1 with the original music or the dub music? I'm kinda torn between the two. The dub music is good at some points but not all the time. Same goes for the japanese music in my opinion..

Depends on which dub music you mean. What Funimation did, or what Saban used? With me, I do still wish that they played "Ginyu Transformation" when Vegeta got hit by the SPirit Bomb. The Prince wrote:Do you prefer to watch season 1 with the original music or the dub music? I was going to ask what Super Sonic did; do you mean the original dub from the Saban days, or the dub music from Funimation's season one box set?
My answer is the same either way; Japanese is superior.
But it wouldn't even be a close contest between the two dubs, the original music was pretty good, the new stuff is so bad it makes me want to fall asleep. It's moody music...just one mood actually, boredom.

I've only really been familiar with the dub music, except for the few episodes and movies I've seen with the Japanese voices and music.
But I've been watching the season one set with the Japanese music and I really don't think I'll ever play it with the dub music on.

I can't stand Falconer's music for DBZ at all. It is, to me, what truly ruins the DBZ dub, moreso than the scripting or voice acting, which is why I'm interested in seeing how having the original Japanese BGM over the dub will be.
I especially dislike how the music seems to change every few seconds and rarely sticks to a constant theme. The music itself doesn't seem to fit Dragonball to me, either, and there's rarely any silence even when their should be. Still not as bad as the GT music, though.
So to me, it's not even a question... But I guess some do like the dub music, so I'll (try
) to respect their opinions.

I guess you didn't watch season 1, since Faulconer did not do the Saiyan Saga. Ever.Swift wrote:I can't stand Falconer's music for DBZ at all. I haven't seen season 1's dub music, but if it's as GOOD as Faulconer's, then I might listen to it.
If it is WORSE than Faulconer's, I will stick with Japanese bgm

To me, Faulconer is very good at synthesizers. DBZ actually sounds good sometimes with them.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Japanese music obviously.
At first I didn't think the dub would sound good with it after the many years of hearing it with synthesized music. There were even parts of the saban dub I liked a tad better because I grew up with it.
After watching the season 1 set, I can't even begin to fathom how much the dub sounds better with the japanese music. I definitely can't go back to the synthesized music anymore.

now mark menza made the dub music for the Saiyan Saga, right? well, we found out that he truly sucked with GT's dub score with the same thing playing over and over again. well, he made a new tune and just kept recycling the same thing over and over again. the original BGM just fits so well, it's lightyears ahead of any of the dub music on this new set.
