Why do Funimations releaces fall in comparison to bootlegs
This has been bothering me for a very long time now, ever since I first watched DBZ on Cartoon Network in the U.K I always thought something seemed wrong with it's quality... for instance the colours were so dull and lifeless and the contrast seemed far to dark that you couldn't see some scenery behind.
A few months later I discovered this website and learned about the Dragonbox masters, shortly a few months later I remember reading on a dbz website *I think it was yours* that Funimations releaces were even lower quality than actual DBZ RAW's.
Shortly a few years later I discovered that the Dragonbox DVD's I bought were actually bootlegs yet even though the colours were bleeded and grain was removed, they seemed so much better quality than Funimations DBZ releaces.
Which is really weird since we all know other companies which releace anime on DVD have far superior quality than to a RAW or bootleg, for instance Naruto releaced by VIZ Media.
Heck even 4kids can pull a high quality releace out of their ass but edit it to pieces, so why couldn't Funimation?
And because of this lots of DBZ fans on youtube considur for the bootleg DBZ releaces to be far better quality than Funimations were, even though some may actually own both versions eitherway.
So could anyone answer my long ass question??
*Note: I planned this proper topic while thinking in my bathtub*

We do not condone bootlegging. We don't want to hear about your bootleg DVDs. We don't want to hear about how many episodes you've downloaded. We don't want to hear about how many 320 kbps MP3s you've collected. When it comes down to it, DBZ has had a very rough uprising in various countries, but we're finally at the point where we can legally purchase the things we want and support our fandom. None of us want to hear about anything that goes against this. If you're an actual fan of the property, you pay for things you want. That's the end of the story.

Damn no wonder I ended up this way, your DBZ feature contained an image of launch at a bar drunk, notice the red tie on her head how it's over bright in conrtast... in the link below

Then again your DBZ as you've never seen video on youtube contained bootleg DBZ footage since the contrast was far to bright, even Goku's shirt was far too bright aswell.
Not to mention most of you actually mentioned about downloading bootleg DBZ episodes off a torrent site in an old topic, even Tanooki did... and Vegetto EX complained about the Cell Games saga in Dual Audio OGM format.
So now that I've got that out of my head, could someone please answer my question becasue I really need to know why

Don't try to justify your stand on bootlegs but giving us another lecture on color contrast and all of that stuff. We know you own bootlegs, we know you're not exactly a pro-FUNi person, so does this discussion need to go on? "Releases". Okay, now I'm done.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

That's from an MPEG-compressed AviSynth script made from a DragonBox .VOB by VegettoEX himself, and he has said before he fiddles with the colors a bit, even with DragonBox footage. Not to mention it's a JPEG.
Time and time again, you've shown you have no idea what you're talking about... and yet you still won't learn... It's amazing how stupid one person can be.
I know I don't say much here, but I had to get that out. I mean, honestly, this is pathetic.

Thank you, that's all I wanted to know... I may be a courupted DBZ fan but I can change if you give me the chance toMajinVejitaXV wrote:Okay dude, WTF are you asking? Seriously?
Why do FUNimation's DVDs suck? Because they use dated materials and try to mask their age with cheap filtering (edge enhancement, DVNR, color saturation and balance alterations), and on some releases used terribly deficient bitrates.

Sorry for all of the problems I have caused in the past, comparisons and such

That's cool, just chill dude. No one cares if you own bootlegs, just don't advertise. Yeah, we've all seen bootleg footage at some point. Advocating it (like saying they look better than the licensed releases, regardless of whether it's true or not) is another thing.Gokuden553 wrote:Thank you, that's all I wanted to know... In the end, bootlegs rob the people who made the series. Not only that, but you endanger the community by mentioning them.
So stop, alright? Thanks.

I hate people who sell copyrighted material. If you want to DOWNLOAD copyrighted material, that's your problem. But if you SELL, that's taking the illegalness of it to a whole new height.
Buying bootlegs is worse than downloading because you support the seller (plus your chances of getting caught are much higher).
But to answer your question, FUNimation just gets lazy.

If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Absolutely, 100%, completely, and ignorantly wrong.Gokuden553 wrote:Then again your DBZ as you've never seen video on youtube contained bootleg DBZ footage since the contrast was far to bright, even Goku's shirt was far too bright aswell.
Just because I don't talk about certain things doesn't mean I'm completely oblivious as to what's going on out there. I mean, Christ... let's not forget that a member of the group-in-question came to this very forum looking to take our translation of "CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA" for use in their materials.Gokuden553 wrote:Not to mention most of you actually mentioned about downloading bootleg DBZ episodes off a torrent site in an old topic, even Tanooki did... and Vegetto EX complained about the Cell Games saga in Dual Audio OGM format.
Locked, for many good reasons. Wondering if I just ban you now...
