Mr.Popo is happy! (Videogame translating)
I'm not sure if this should have gone in the questions section or not but it is videogame related so I decided to stick it here. How literal are the translations in the Dragonball Z videogame line? I ask because I recently heard Mr.Popos original Japanese voice and suddenly his dumbed down lines in the Sparking intro to story mode made a lot more sense. So I suppose they translated that directly from the original game. Then we get lines like "Ha Ha that's it bring it home old boy!" and Choutzu's running gag of breath jokes to Guldo. It makes me think the videogame dubbers are pulling what the anime dubbers do and add stupid verbal lines in an attempt to be funny. So my question is do the game translators translate the original lines directly into English with no change or do they change what the characters say in an attempt to be more funny or to fit mouth flaps etc.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight
