New DBZ Arcade Game

Post by Cold Cobra » Wed Feb 28, 2007 12:27 pm

I found this link in my internet travels:

http://www.carddas.com/dbzbakuretsu/index.html

I can't read Japanese so I don't know if it translates as Bakuretsu Impact, or if Bakuretsu translated to Impact, all I know is that it seems to be based on the Budokai/Shin Budokai engine but with a few new characters, including Trunks and Goten as Mighty Mask.

There also seems to be something else to it that it's trying to explain to me, but I don't know what it's saying! :(

I hope this gets the Super DBZ treatment and comes to the PS2 or some next gen console.

EDIT: Here is the link to the new characters page (although judging by the artwork Dodoria and Zarbon are in as well, and they haven't been in a Budokai game since the first one, so...):

So...

This seems to be a semi card-based battle game with rock paper scissors, and what looks to be the Budokai 3 character models?

This looks amazing, shame I can't read Japanese.

Probably just "Bakuretsu Inpakuto/Impact", as the Katakana stated just that. So it would be weird if "Bakuretsu Impact" is meant to be the Japanese translation of the only word "Impact". However, we know Japanese and their Engrish...

I'm pretty excited to see Super 18 in Budokai graphics.

Whoa! A new DBZ arcade game! Sweet!
Y'know, when I read the thread name, I was really thinking it'd be Super DBZ 2.
But this is unexpected, and kinda cool, hopefully it will depart from Japanese shores to other countrys this time!
Also, I hope a few new characters are introduced.. Mighty Mask IS unexpected but.. he seems a little.. meh.

At the end of the video, Goku says "Bakuretsu Impact". Safe to say that's what the game's called.

Ditto. The DBZ3 graphics had their own charm that the Sparking series lacks.

The Budokai series' characters are much more expressive, and fluid, even more so than Super DBZ's charcters. Look at their expressions change constantly while doing super movies, while the Sparking characters just keep that same stone cold expression all the time (It was improved in NEO, but still, they wern't as fluid).

This is just another installment of the Cardass series that Dimps was doing exclusive to Japan. They used the original Budokai engine for these type of games before. I highly doubt this will make it to the US, since were getting the same engine in the form of Shin Budokai 2, except with less impressive graphics.

Oh, damn. The Sparking series was a nice diversion.. but this just reminded me how badly I want to see a full-fledged Budokai 4, featuring the "Shin Budokai" updates. Seeing Super 17, Might Mask (!!), as well as Paikuhan's super in "cinematic" form is just too awesome.. too bad it's just a Cardass game :?

I still don't have any idea what this "Data Cardass" thing is about, anyway..

To my knowledge, "Data Carddas" is a series of arcade games played with trading/game cards instead of coins? (correct me if I'm wrong). I hear it's really popular with the younger crowd of Japanese gamers.

Did you even look further than the pretty models? The gameplay seems to be card based and/or a variant of rock/paper/scissors. If it's card based PS2 chances are non-existant. <.<;;

Oh and

Yeah it's pretty much the same graphics & taking mostly from Budokai 3, then maybe a little Shin Budokai with the slight change of camera angles.

Hee, hee, hee... "ass."

This looks interesting. Such smexy visuals and models for something that's just rock-paper-scissors? ...what's not to like?
