The First Three Dragon Ball R2 DVD Covers!

(sorry, they're pretty small)

Allow me to be the first to say...meh.

EDIT: I checked out my screensaver to see if they updated it with large art of these covers. It won't even load anymore! I get an error message? Was a new screensaver released? Unfourtunately, I don't have the website with the screensaver download atm...

Yeah...the art itself is pretty nice but I don't like that golden border. Overall, definitely not as good as the DBZ ones. Oh well, it's the content that counts!

'Meh' is right on the money, but they aren't bad either. I like the Yamucha one the best.

True, they look a bit basic compared to the Dragon Ball Z covers, but still look great =) Although that border looks pretty cool, all retro-ey and all.

Artwork is good, but those don't look like DVD covers. More like framed pictures.

You guys ask for too much. I think they're awesome!

a lot better than FUNimation's covers, imo.

I like 'um. It's got a nice classic feel to it.

I think the border give it an Asian legend feel, like the first DB episodes were based on. But I'm not as big of a fan of those covers as I was of the DBZ ones.

I agree with both your statements. They seem so classy! I was hoping they'd keep a sense of uniformity through the DB/DBZ/DBGT single releases though...

Those are horrible. A lot of the bootleg art is better than this. It almost looks bootleg itself.

Aside from the border and the swirley designs in the background, I think they're great! I'm pretty sure they're going for the whole fantasy feel. Journey to the West anyone?

I think they look awesome. The character art looks nothing like the series itself, but that's a given for all the recent series art. Apart from that the art is still quite nice in its own right, and I love the overall design.

I think I prefer the Z ones over this, but I can totally see where they're coming from with these. Dragonball always had much less of an 'edge' to it, and even the Dragonball Dragonbox had a sort of swirly, almost classic look to it.

I think it's something that will grow on you eventually. assuming you care about such things. It's not bad.

Not bad. Not excellent, but they're fine. It's the contents on the DVDs that matter anyway.

They're alright. I love the character designs but the asian look is a little overboard. I would like a little more consistancy with Z.

The Asian look? You are aware of what R2j DVDs are, right? You do realise what Dragonball is based on, right?

I think they look alright. The DBZ DVD covers had a lot of action shots, so I guess we just got used to that kind of image for the covers. :?

Are you guys kidding me? I think they look fantastic. The artwork and style are both really well-done. If you were expecting the same as Z, then you're forgetting that this is technically still considered a different series, even if it is the same storyline. It's also good to have some variety in your collections.

Wow. Those look great.

And for the naysayers, I think you're forgetting something: The releases are mimicking their respective boxsets. The DragonBox Z volumes did it with the yellow background and font, and this one is pretty much doing the same only they changed the red background to gold.

Looks very nice, I'm looking forward to seeing them all.
